Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer.
I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far! I just watched Remarkably Bright Creatures on Netflix, and it was so good. I was a little worried because I loved the book so much, but I thought they did a great job. I can see how parts of the movie would be confusing, since quite a bit happens in the book and they tried to fit everything in, but overall, I’m so glad I watched it. I’m planning on doing a “book versus movie” post soon!

Today’s Badger photo was taken on the Pacific Crest Trail, which runs through my town. Right now we have tons of hikers coming through who are hiking the trail, so it’s appropriate to share this photo right now.
Upcoming reads & reviews:
First, look how beautiful all these orange, red and pink covers look together! I swear I didn’t plan this:-) I’m tryin to post three reviews this week, since May is quickly disappearing! Tomorrow look for my review of The Gatepost, another excellent book by Tim Weed. Dead Weight was very short and unsettling! Next up will be either Teddy Bears Never Die or The Children, we’ll see what mood I’m in. The Children is an early June release and I’d love to get a jump on my June TBR.
Other posts this week:
Tuesday, in honor of the upcoming U.S. Memorial Day holiday, I’ve put together a list of speculative fiction books set during real wars; Wednesday is Future Fiction, and I have three new upcoming books to share; and I’m hoping to pull together my Summer of Horror 2026 kick off post later in the week (probably Friday), so stop by if you can!
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
The Fake Divination Offense by Sara Raasch – Review 4/5 stars
May Flowers – Twelve Fantasy Books with Flowers on the Cover
Death’s Daughter by S.A. Barnes – Review 3.5/5 stars

Remarkably Bright Creatures is on my list of movies to watch!
Enjoy!
I was thinking to try Remarkably Bright Creatures. I haven’t read the book though.
Both are good, but the book is better, in my opinion. Isn’t that often the case? 😉
I want to see Remarkably Bright Creatures but I want to read the book first and who knows when I’ll get around to it, knowing myself. 😛
Badger having the time of his life as usual! You really have beautiful nature over there!
Yes, read the book first! Thanks Stephanie:-)
I just saw a not-too-positive review of Dead Weight, so now I’m definitely curious what you made of it!
My review will be up Thursday! I liked it but it didn’t blow me away.
Glad you enjoyed the movie.
Thanks Stormi!
Really looking forward to your thoughts on The Children!
That trail is very tiny. For some reason, I expected something larger.
I’m about a third of the way through The Children and so far I’m loving it:-) And lol, yes that part of the trail is very narrow. I’m assuming there are wider parts in other areas.
So I’ve seen all the good reviews of the Remarkably Bright Creatures book, and while it sounds interesting, I don’t think it is my type of read. I’m going to try to watch it though so maybe I can enjoy it that way I hope? Love Badger on the trail. I’m curious about the Teddy Bears Never Die book. Is it for kids or a horror story? lol. Hope you have a good week!
Teddy Bears is an adult book, although the cover sort of looks like a kids book:-) Enjoy Remarkably Bright Creatures if you watch it!
I’d love to hike part of the Pacific Crest Trail sometime! 😀
It’s very long, I think it goes the whole length of the West coast!
I’m so glad to hear that Remarkably Bright Creatures is worth watching! I loved the book too. I hope to find time to get to the movie in the next few weeks. Hope you have a great week ahead!
Thanks Lisa, enjoy Remarkably Bright Creatures when you get to it:-)
I’m also glad the movie was good, it’s hard when you love a book to see a bad screen adapt!
It is hard! I was pleased with the movie, and I might watch it again.
I think the war books sound interesting. Badger and the trail look awesome.
Thanks Anne:-)
Aww look at Badger! That is a great photo!!
Thanks Erin!
I want to read REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES before I watch it, but I don’t think that’s going to happen! We’ll see…
Yes, read the book first! There is much more detail (not surprisingly).
I still need to read Remarkably Bright Creatures and watch the adaptation. The preview looks so good!
I think the book is better, but the movie was very good too. Enjoy!
I LOVE the photo of Badger on the trail – what are those yellow flowers? They look a bit like daffodils, but it looks too dry for them… I need to watch Remarkably Bright Creatures – I enjoyed the book but perhaps not quite as much as lots of other people. So I’m intrigued to see how it works on the screen.
Thank you Sarah! I’m not sure about the flowers, I will ask the hubby:-)
Ooo hiking the PCT is one of my dreams. Can I take Badger with me??? I love the pink & orange covers together. I’m wanting to do my living room in bright colors like that orange, raspberry, peacock blue…
I am putting off reading Remarkably Bright Creatures until I read the book. Hoping to squeeze it in during June. I can’t wait for your kickoff post. And I LOVE seeing Badger. Can never get enough of the puppies!
I had no idea they made Remarkably Bright Creatures into a movie! Very glad to hear you enjoyed it and I look forward to seeing you compare it with the book, which I also really enjoyed. Awesome photo! I love how the light hits the crest of slope.
I started the Remarkably Bright Creatures book but put it down and haven’t gone back to it yet. Ideally I’d prefer to read the book first but I am tempted by the film.
Lynn 😀
