Welcome to Future Fiction, my reimagining of the Waiting on Wednesday meme! There are so many amazing new books coming out, that I can no longer pick just one. My goal with Future Fiction is to share at least three new books each week, a combination of recent cover reveals and books that I’ve recently added to my TBR pile. I’m still going to be linking up with Wishful Endings/Can’t Wait Wednesday, and I also want to give a shout out to Jill at Breaking the Spine for starting the original Waiting on Wednesday meme. I hope you’ll find some new books to add to your TBR piles, and as always, I look forward to hearing what YOU’RE looking forward to:-D
Hard to believe, but all three picks today are 2027 releases! Take a look at three books by authors I love with new books coming out next year:

A mesmerizing novel about a woman who must turn back time to save her sister’s life, set against the backdrop of wartime Britain.
London, 1940: Twenty-nine-year-old Beatrice Bone knows that she’s considered eccentric. With her love of Victorian jewelry and Gothic stories, she’s well on her way to becoming society’s most pitied woman: a spinster. The one person who has always understood her is Clemmie, her younger sister, who is off contributing to the war effort while Beatrice still sleeps in her childhood bedroom. But when Clemmie dies in a fire while undertaking mysterious work for the Foreign Office, all that Beatrice has left of her is an antique pocket watch, her sister’s final birthday gift. When she discovers that it also acts as a portal, enabling her to return to any moment that she personally can remember, Beatrice resolves to go back in time, to find work at Bletchley Park and save Clemmie. But her attempts to change the past have terrible consequences, and she is faced with a devastating choice: her sister’s life, or her country’s future?
London, 1915: With her husband away fighting in the Great War, young mother Alice battles misogyny and prejudice to treat wounded soldiers at Endell Street Hospital, London’s first medical center staffed entirely by female doctors. But the horrors that she confronts there unlock long-buried memories of her own mother’s death, forcing her to confront an ability she has long tried to repress…
With an epic scope, sweeping storytelling, and heart-wrenching dilemmas, Emilia Hart delivers another spellbinding tale of female resilience against the odds, and a celebration of how love transcends time.
The Enigmas by Emilia Hart. Releases in April 2027 from St. Martin’s Press. I know this release date is pretty far away, but I couldn’t resist sharing Emilia Hart’s next book! I’m a little behind, since I still haven’t read The Sirens, but I loved Weyward, and I love the sound of this historical fiction portal fantasy.

What if the man of your dreams turns out to be a nightmare?
The past really can haunt you in this killer supernatural slasher by Clay McLeod Chapman, perfect for fans of Grady Hendrix, CJ Leede, and Stephen Graham Jones. When Jenn first sees Mr. Lonelyhearts, he’s just a CPR dummy in her 7th grade health class. She and her best friends—the Cöven—smuggle him to a sleepover and pour their adolescent fantasies into his open, willing vessel. Then they grow up, get real boyfriends, and forget about him. But he never forgot about them. And now, decades later, after a traumatic break-up leaves Jenn shattered, Mr. Lonelyhearts reappears in her life to pick up the pieces.
But once Jenn begins to suspect that there’s something very wrong about her Mr. Right, it might be too late. Will she survive this situationship, or does Mr. Lonelyhearts have darker plans for them?
Mr. Lonelyhearts is a glittery slasher and a sinister look at how our deepest desires can manifest into something more monstrous, from the critically acclaimed author of Wake Up and Open Your Eyes.
Mr. Lonelyhearts by Clay McLeod Chapman. Releases in March 2027 from Tor Nightfire. OK this sounds pretty amazing. And yes, I’ve struggled with some of Chapman’s books in the past. But he’s one of those authors whose books I’ll always try!

Nonsense and candy and the families we choose in the origin story of a beloved character in the latest installment of the Hugo Award-winning Wayward Children series.
Before there was Sumi, Promised Savior of Confection, there was Onishi Sumiko, a girl with no idea where she belonged.
Onishi Sumiko was born to be an invisible girl. The second child of immigrant parents, overshadowed by her brother, she seemed destined for a life of quiet obedience, never breaking free of the path that had been chosen for her.
Until a chance encounter with an impossible door sends her tumbling into a world of peppermint dreams and sugary nightmares, leaving her trapped in a candy-coated heart of darkness.
Forced to adapt to the world of Confection, where the rules are as unpredictable as they are nonsensical, Sumiko must decide whether she’s going to be a meek, logical victim of her own fate―or whether she’s going to stand up and become the illogical, impossible hero she was always meant to be.
Not all sweet dreams are safe ones, as Sumi will quickly discover for herself.
A Song of Sugar Sparrows (Wayward Children #12) by Seanan McGuire. Releases in January 2027 from Tordotcom. I was a little worried when I saw this was going to be Sumi’s origin story, since Confection is my least favorite world in this series. But I have to admit I love the sound of this. Plus, after keeping up with the series, I can’t stop now!

I’m just happy for more Wayward Children!
All awesome covers and OMG! the latest Wayward Children! I didn’t even know it had a title yet, let alone a cover. I love Sumi (and Confection), so I’m all sat for this LOL.
I love the sound of The Enigmas and that cover is gorgeous. As for the latest Wayward Children – her titles are always brilliantly quirky:)). Thank you for giving us happy anticipation tingles for next year, Tammy:)).
I have The Enigmas bookmarked to highlight next week too! Looks amazing, and give her previous two books, I’d be ready to read it even without seeing the synopsis! Will definitely be reading the next Wayward Children book. It’s been a while since I’ve read a Chapman book… this one does look good!
I loved WEYWARD, so it’s nice to see another Emilia Hart book on the way!
wow, 2027 already!
I’m intrigued by #3
I love Emilia Hart’s novels and look forward for the next one to be published.
Oh my gosh, Sumi’s origin story! I can’t wait..she says while still being midway through Gates of Garnet and Gold
Exactly the same with Emilia Hart for me. Loved Weyward and still need to read The Sirens. Luckily this one doesn’t release until 2027. We still got time! 😛
I love the sound of The Enigmas, Beatrice sounds like such a fascinating lead and I’m curious to see how the storylines will intersect. It sounds potentially emotionally devastating too. I really must start Wayward Children sometime and try to catch up. I think I’ll love the series, I’m just always a little sceptical about buying novellas and my library sadly doesn’t stock them.
