Buffy’s Corner 10/11/26 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer.

I’m writing this on Saturday, and we have a big rainstorm on the way tonight. I’m looking forward to it!

I discovered this week that Goodreads now has 1/4 and 1/2 star ratings! I have no idea when this happened, they didn’t make an announcement, did they? But in any case, it works on both computers and phone apps, so exciting for those of us who use 1/4 and 1/2 stars!

Upcoming reads & reviews:

This week I might try to get three reviews posted, but we’ll see how that goes! For sure, look for my review of Mazywood tomorrow (so much fun!) and Off the Reservation on Thursday (I’m about halfway through and still waiting for the horror to kick in…). I’ve dipped into The Porcelain Sisters and I’m intrigued! Also there are nods to Harrison Squared, one of Daryl Gregory’s earlier books. My head is spinning with all of my October choices so I’ll probably go with my mood, but with the heaviness and slow pace of Off the Reservation, I feel like I need something different, so maybe Night of the Mallrats.

Other posts this week:

I might do the Creatures of the Night Book tag on Tuesday, since I have already done a “Fall colors” Top Ten Tuesday list; and Wednesday I have three new books to share on Future Fiction.

In case you missed:

My posts from last week:

The Killing of a Chestnut Tree by Oliver K. Langmead – Review 4.5/5 stars

Future Fiction #403

Most Anticipated Books of 2026 – Fourth Quarter

Find Me Where It Ends by Cassandra Khaw – Review 4,5/5 stars

Buffy’s Corner 10/4/26

A black shepherd stands by a railroad during an overcasts evening.
Badger and the railroad tracks.

Hope to see you around the blogosphere:-D

  1. It’s interesting that Goodreads finally caved and added quarter/half stars now they have StoryGraph as a competitor. Many many moons ago when they had a public feedback forum and I often helped out in there, it was a very acrimonious subject!

Looking forward to your review of Mazywood, I’ve been meaning to try Tananarive Due’s work for sooo long.
