Most Anticipated Books of 2026 – Fourth Quarter

Here we are in the last quarter of 2026! And I have one last “most anticipated” list to share. These are my five most anticipated releases for the months of October, November and December:

October 2026 Most Anticipated:

I’m happy to say I’ve already read two of my October “Most Anticipated” books!

Find Me Where It Ends by Cassandra Khaw is an emotional story about a woman who wants to kill herself and the people and animals in her life who are getting in the way of that. I just reviewed it yesterday, so the link will take you to my review.

The Killing of a Chestnut Tree by Oliver K. Langmead is the start to a cozy fantasy/mystery series, and I found it delightful! Langmead is such a good writer, and what could have been your typical mystery becomes so much more with a sweet queer relationship added and a twisty “story within a story” format.

It’s been a few years since I read The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buelhman, but I’m eager to jump into the sequel, The Thrice-Bound Fool.

I love that many of my favorite authors are releasing books this month! Daryl Gregory is one of them, and I can’t wait to start The Porcelain Sisters.

And of course, Off the Reservation by Stephen Graham Jones is my most highly anticipated book of the month, and luckily it’s coming up soon on the pile.

November 2026 Most Anticipated:

November is a lighter release month for new books, but there are some heavy hitters here!

I’m very excited to read the conclusion to Craig DiLouie’s slasher duology, and The Yule Day Slaughter looks like a fun mix of slasher and the holiday season.

I loved Stephanie Wrobel’s last book, The Hitchcock Hotel, so of course I can’t wait to read her latest thriller Revenge Plot, which deals with the publishing world.

Milkteeth by Caitlin Starling looks like a dark vampire tale that may have some body horror.

I will never miss a new Christina Henry book, which makes Pinfeathers my most anticipated book of the month!

John Scalzi’s books sometimes veer into silly, so they don’t always completely work for me, but Monsters of Ohio is really calling to me!

December 2026 Most Anticipated:

December is a bit of a mish-mash of books. As I’m writing this, I only have one review book for the month, and I don’t intend to add any more at this point. Instead, I want to catch up on a few review books I wasn’t able to get to as well as a couple of purchases.

First, I have a review copy of Villain Edit by Rosie Danan, which combines reality television with vampires. It sounds like fun!

Because I absolutely loved Crone by Keith Rosson, I thought I’d catch up with a NetGalley ARC I received last year but never read, Coffin Moon. Rosson is definitely one of my new favorite authors!

And because I loved Exit Party, I’d love to read one of Emily St. John Mandel’s earlier books, The Singer’s Gun, in which the character Ari is introduced.

I purchased a limited edition of Daytide by Chris Panatier earlier this year but haven’t had time to read it. I feel like December is the perfect time to catch up, and I’d love to squeeze it in this year if possible.

Finally, I can’t believe I haven’t had time to read The Two of Us at the End of the World by C.A. Fletcher, so I need to make time for it in December.

Are you planning on reading any of these books? What is your most anticipated book of this quarter?

  1. Sounds like you’re off to a fantastic start with your October choices and I hope the other three prove to be hits too. The story within a story element within The Killing Of A Chesnut Tree has me intrigued and I look forward to seeing your review soon.

We have Pinfeathers in common for November and I’d love to reas Revenge Plot too. I somehow forgot that one was out soon but I loved the authors debut and keep meaning to try more by her.

I love how you’ve picked some must reads from the past for your December options and hope they all make for a wonderful reading month with many new favourites.

  2. Yes, I have a few of these that I’m looking forward to and I’ve already read Porcelain Sisters. Hopefully, December being a nice quiet month I’m also hoping to fit in a few of my books that I ran out of time for in October/September.

  3. How many interesting books! And yay for having already read two of them!! (And both of them sound sooo good, too!).
I have Porcelain Sisters waiting for me, and I am really curious to get that one started. And The Revenge Plot sounds intriguing too!!

  4. Great choices! I haven’t gotten to the Fletcher book yet either, and I’d really like to. Definitely looking forward to Monsters of Ohio! I’m curious about The Singer’s Gun as well, after reading Exit Party — I’ll look forward to hearing what you think of it1

I hope I can get to The Singer’s Gun, I’d love to finish reading all of Mandel’s books:-)

  5. I only have the chestnut tree book on my radar. Everything else looks a bit scary lol. Milkteeth intrigues me, but it was a wild ride when I read The Starving Saints and I don’t know that I’m up for that right now!

I have only read one book by Caitlin Starling and it was just OK for me, (The Luminous Dead) but I’m excited to read Milkteeth.

It’s impossible to read everything, sadly…And I am so excited to read more Keith Rosson, he’s amazing!

I think you need Daughters War before Thrice Bound Fool but that might be a hot take! It was so much better with Galva’s story of the wars!

  7. There are a great many books on my tbr this final quarter of 2026. I just read Crone and loved it too so I’m definitely on the look out for Coffin Moon. Rosson’s been busy this year, wow.
