Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer.
This was a short work week for me, since I took Thursday and Friday off work. I wish every week was like that:-) I hope everyone is doing well. The hubby has been in Colombia all week trying to find harpy eagles, and unfortunately (as far as I know, he’s not home yet and there was no cell service where he was), they didn’t see a single eagle. This is a first for him, and I’m curious to get the full story once he gets home. I’ll let you know next week!
Upcoming reads & reviews:
Oof, it has not been a good reading week for me. With the hubby gone, I have been on full Badger duty (my husband usually walks him). I also had a couple of out of town trips to see family and celebrate my birthday. All good things, but they have been distracting. I also had my first DNF of the year, The Body. I read about 75 pages, and I literally have no idea what this book is about, so I’m calling it. Then I picked up Strange Animals, which is very weird but also really good, luckily. I’m hoping to post my review tomorrow. I meant to finish up my Ronald Malfi book of short stories, but I just wasn’t in the mood. So I have very little to show for the week, reading wise! My next two books will be A Forest, Darkly and Nowhere Burning.
Other posts this week:
I’ve participated in a long string of Top Ten Tuesdays (this always happens at the beginning of the year, so many fun prompts!) but this Tuesday will be my last for a while: it’s a Valentine’s Freebie; and the cover reveals were out of control this past week, so check back on Wednesday for Future Fiction to see what books I’ll highlight.
In case you missed:

Oh — happy belated birthday?!
Here’s hoping for a better reading week ahead!
Thanks Nicky! I think this will be a better reading week for sure:-)
Happy belated birthday!! And yay for the short week!! But nay for the first DNF!! I hope next week will bring more satisfying reads!
Thanks Susy! I do hope this is a better reading week…
Too bad about the DNF of The Body. But sometimes we have to make those decisions. As you know I also had my first DNF of the year already. Love the Badger picture!
Yes, I remember. At least we’ve gotten that first DNF out of the way! Thanks Stephanie!
That’s cool about the trip and the eagles. I hope your next reads are great. Badger!
Thank you!
Your husband is seeing the whole world Tammy! Is photography his job now? Or is it still a hobby?
He has pretty much been everywhere, at least everywhere there are wild animals to see:-) He actually still does photography for pay, but it’s things like events and headshots. The animal photography is a hobby at this point.
Happy belated birthday! I always write the top 10 Tuesday posts down on my calendar but then run out of time to do them most of the time. Can’t wait to hear what the story is for your husband’s trip and that eagle! Badger needs good walks I’m sure with being young and a bigger dog. My two older ones go out and then come back in and act like they want to play, but I throw a toy once or twice and then they just come sit on my lap, lol. Have a good week!
Thanks Lisa! Yes, Badger needs at least two good walks a day, and my husband takes him out to a remote area twice a day to run off leash, something I’m not comfortable with.
I love a short work week! 😉 I’m sorry to hear that your husband didn’t see a single eagle! What a bummer, especially when that was the photography goal. Hopefully you’ll be able to get back into your normal reading groove once he returns, though. 🙂
I’m so glad he’s back! I mean, I love time to myself and having the house to myself is a dream, lol, but I did miss him:-)
Badger’s been keeping you busy, eh? 🙂 That sucks about Moses not finding any harpy eagles, but I’m sure he still found something worthy of photographing. I hope reading turns around for you soon, and happy birthday!
Thanks Todd! Moses is pretty disappointed about the harpy eagles, but he did see other animals, so I’ll share one of those photos next week.
Happy Belated Birthday my fellow Aquarian!
I’m looking forward to reading your upcoming reviews!
Thank you! February is the best month;-)
Hope you had a great birthday celebration! Sounds like Badger kept you busy! I took a day off this past week too… and also wish every week could be like that. 🙂 I hope A Forest, Darkly is a good one — I’ve read just one book by this author so far, and I’ve been wanting to read more.
Thanks Lisa! I think we should go to three day weekends as the norm:-)
Happy birthday ! Glad you were able to enjoy some time off and do some things. Well I’d be sad about the reading but Badger is more important. I hope this week is great even with work.
Thanks Anne! I will catch up with my reading eventually.
I really wish I had taken Friday off, especially after being up half the night because of back spasms. But, no, I had to push through. I did end up leaving early for the day though. So I at least realized how dumb that was. LOL I can be so stubborn sometimes, even if it’s against my own best interest. I hope this week will be better for you reading-time wise. A Forest, Darkly sounds really good. I hope you have a good week. Take care.
I do the same thing, Wendy, and I think a lot of women are like that-pushing through no matter how you feel. I hope you have a good week too!
I also have little to show for this week’s reading with one thing and another. Plus this hideous weather, I’m always trying to catch a decent spot to take the dogs out – they hate the rain!
Lynn 😀
I’m sorry your weather is so bad:-(
Can’t wait to read your thoughts on Strange Animals. And it’s too bad your husband didn’t see any harpy eagles on his trip. That’s disappointing. And I wish every work week was just three days. That would be awesome. I’m looking forward to President’s Day next week and having a shorter work week because of it. 😀
Yes! All work weeks should be three days. Four would be OK too;-) And I had forgotten we have a three day weekend coming up, yay!
I hope you had a great birthday!
I’m going to try and maintain posting TTT, I was ahead for a while but I haven’t even started to put tomorrow’s together
Wishing you a lovely reading week
wow, you persevered for 75 pages before DNFing! It has to be really bad if you DNFed it!

Early February has been full of unexpected events eating into my reading time as well. Hope the second half of the month will cooperate lol.
