What’s On My Plate – February 2026

Welcome to February’s TBR, and yes, it’s bigger than I had hoped, lol. I really am trying to take on less review books, but that strategy didn’t work very well for February. I have already read two of these, though, as well as Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter, which I read and reviewed last month. This is a seriously great TBR, and I’m excited to read all of these!

Nowhere Burning by Catriona Ward. This is probably my most anticipated book of the month, and I’ve been hearing good things so far.

Dollface by Lindy Ryan. I’m a huge Lindy Ryan fan, and even though there are some mixed reviews on Goodreads, I’m hoping it will work for me.

Nightshade & Oak by Molly O’Neill. I’ve already read this, and my review will be up on Thursday. I really enjoyed it! Maybe a bit less than Greenteeth, but still very good.

Strange Animals by Jerod K. Anderson. This is another book that’s getting a bunch of buzz, and I love that it’s about a man who studies cryptids and finds himself in a fantastical world.

The Body by Bethany C. Morrow. This is a horror/thriller that has some mixed reviews, but that only makes me more curious!

Krackle’s Last Movie by Chelsea Sutton. This is a short novella from a new to me small publisher, and I’m currently reading it and enjoying it. It’s very quirky, and I’ll post a review later this week.

The Darkness Greeted Her by Christina Ferko. This is YA horror, and I’m excited to check it out. It sounds very dark!

For Human Use by Sarah G. Pierce. This sounds so good, but it’s also getting mixed reviews. It sounds weird and crazy, and I’m here for it:-)

A Forest, Darkly by A.G. Slatter. I loved Slatter’s All the Murmuring Bones, and this is set in the same universe.

The Red Winter by Cameron Sullivan. I love historical horror, and I believe this has something to do with werewolves…

Dead First by Johnny Compton. This is a supernatural mystery with horror elements, and it will be my first Johnny Compton book!

Grace by A.M. Shine. I grabbed this because I’ve heard so many good things about Shine’s The Watchers. I hope it’s as good!

What are you looking forward to reading this month?

  1. It looks like a busy month book wise but an incredibly exciting one too. I hope you love all of these books and cant wait to see your review of Nightshade & Oak later this week. I also cant wait to see what you think of The Red Winter, A Forest Darkly and Grace in particular, the latter because The Watchers has caught my eye before too. Im reading my first Robin Hobb book, my first Carissa Broadbent and The Poet Empress this month. All books im super excited for.

Thank you Charlotte! I have only read a couple of Carissa Broadbent novels and I really love her style. I’d love to catch up with some of her books I’ve missed.

  2. Nightshade & Oak is one I’d love to get hold of. But I have cut back my review books a bit… How long that lasts is anyone’s guess!!

  3. Lots to look forward to here. The ones that most stand out to me, though mainly for their covers, are Strange Animals and The Red Winter. Can’t wait to see what you think of those you get to.

  4. Well, you have reminded me that I need to write my reviews for Dead First and The Body ASAP! I liked them both, so I am curious to see what you thinK! I also am very curious about Nowhere Burning and For Human Use, but honestly pretty much all of these are on my list so I hope you enjoy them!

  5. It seems like you have a great reading month waiting for you!! I hope to concentrate on sequels this February but I have a couple of ARCs I am really excited about, Agnes Aubert’s first on the list!!
