Summer of Horror Cover Love – Horror Books With Black Covers

Today is the final Friday of Summer of Horror 2025, and I’ve brought together one last “color” gallery of horror: black. Of all the colors (and I realize black isn’t technically a color, but let’s go with it), black screams “horror.” Here are eleven books I’ve either read or want to read:

Crawlspace by Adam Christopher

Gallows Hill by Darcy Coates

Sallow Bend by Alan Baxter

You Weren’t Meant To Be Human by Andrew Joseph White

The Unmothers by Leslie J. Anderson

Heads Will Roll by Josh Winning

Senseless by Ronald Malfi

Black Mouth by Ronald Malfi

Salem’s Lot by Stephen King

Nowhere by Allison Gunn

You Watched In Silence by H. Lee Justine

And in case you missed the other colors, I’ll keep a running list here:

Horror Books With Yellow Covers

Horror Books With Pink Covers

Horror Books With Red Covers

Horror Books With White Covers

Horror Books With Green Covers

Horror Books With Purple Covers

What black horror books would you add to the list?

  1. I’m not surprised that there are so many black horror covers, especially when combined with red details. I’ve also never seen that version of Salems Lot before but it’s so eerie.

  2. I’ve read a couple of these but there is one on the list I should have already read but haven’t: Salem’s Lot. I’d like to get to that one day.
