Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
We have extreme storms coming to California this week, and I’m sure in other parts of the U.S. as well. I’m writing this post on Saturday and it’s clear right now, but we have snow and rain starting tonight. It’s going to be one of those “hunker down” weeks, lol. Be careful out there, folks, and don’t drive unless you have to, if you’re in one of the heavy storm areas.
In other news, I’ve finished watching all five seasons of Virgin River, and eagerly awaiting season six, whenever that may be. (probably 2025). As ridiculous as some of the plots are, I ended up really loving this show. It seems to get better as it goes along, so if you’re looking for something fun to watch, I recommend it.
Otherwise, it’s business as usual. My reading is a little slow right now, and I need to step it up if I’m going to have any chance of making a dent in my February TBR!
Upcoming reads & reviews:
The Frame-Up took a surprisingly long time to get through, so it occupied most of my reading last week (hence why I’m behind). I mostly enjoyed it, although I did have a few issues. Check back tomorrow for my review! I’m nearly finished with The Bad Ones, which I’m loving. Melissa Albert is such a good, seasoned writer, and she knows how to draw the reader into whatever mystery is going on. I was just invited to join the blog tour for The Bad Ones, so I won’t be posting a review this week, but stay tuned! Next I’d like to squeeze in one more review this week, so I may knock off What Feasts At Night. After that I’m definitely starting An Education in Malice.
Other posts this week:
On Tuesday, I have a list I want to do that isn’t on the Top Ten Tuesday roster: Ten “new to me” authors I’d like to read in 2024; Wednesday I have three new covers to share on Future Fiction; I’m definitely doing a Friday Face-Off on Friday; and I may do a book haul post on Saturday, as I expect to get some book mail this week (weather permitting, of course).
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
What’s On My Plate – February 2024
Ten “New to Me” Authors I Discovered in 2023
The Sanctuary by Andrew Hunter Murray – Review 3.5/5 stars
Hope you had a great birthday this past week. What Feasts at Night is on my wishlist at the moment so I’ll be interested in reading your review before I succumb (though I overspent my book budget in January so probably shouldn’t be buying anything else just yet!)

Thanks Christine!
Stay safe and warm! At least it’s a great weather for reading LOL.
Loving the moose!
Yes, perfect weather to curl up with a book:-)
Stay safe! I hope you have a great week.

Thanks Aj, you too:-)
That moose picture is so cool! I’ll be waiting to read your review of The Frame Up till after I finish later this week, lol. But I’ll be interested to see what you thought! I think the storms are maybe going around the area where I live? At least I feel that was the last update I saw. Those newscasts always change though! Hope you guys are safe and warm through it all!

Thanks Lisa, I can’t wait to read your review of The Frame Up:-)
I’ve seen moose around in Calgary but I keep a very respectable distance! I’m really looking forward to What Feasts At Night, and I’m curious about the other books too. They all look very interesting!

I wouldn’t want to run into a moose either!
I’m so excited for you to start An Education in Malice. Hopefully it’s as good as A Dowry of Blood!
So far it’s really good!
Hunkering down sounds fine to me. It feels like being behind already since February is the shortest month even with the extra day this year!
And I feel like February is going to zoom by!
eduacation in malice what an intriguing title i have to look that one up.
I love the title too:-)
I hope the weather ends up more bark than bite and all turns out well. Stay safe and warm. And beautiful moose!
Thanks Todd! We’re getting lots of rain and snow, but no flooding or anything like that:-)
Well I hope you’ll stay safe through the storm Tammy!
Thanks Sophie:-)
Stay dry! It’s been pouring here (N. Cal) on and off so far today, and we even briefly lost power. A good day to stay indoors! Can’t wait to hear more about the Melissa Albert book. I just started What Feasts at Night, and hope to power through it today (although the ARC formatting is terrible, so that’s impacting my reading experience). Have a great week!
It’s definitely a great day to stay inside:-)
Stay safe out there! It looks like a lot of precipitation for CA this week! I just started WHAT MOVES THE DEAD as an audiobook to listen to when I’m walking/running or doing household chores. I’ve seen great things about it, so I hope I like it.

Thanks Celeste! I hope you enjoy What Moves the Dead:-)
Hope the storms are not to bad! The weather here has been very strange for February as it’s been really warm like in the 60s! Makes me a bit worried about how the month might end…lol.
Have a great week and happy reading!

Hopefully the whole month will be on the warm side. Have a great week Stormi!
We had a lot of snow and wind last night as well. It has been a bit warmer this week and I hope spring comes for good sooner rather than later. Have a great week!

It’s not too bad where I am, but I know parts of Los Angeles are really getting lots of flooding.
I am glad I am working from home this week with all the rain we are supposed to get. The streets flood so easily here. I do have to venture out a few times though, but hopefully it won’t be too bad. I read another post today of someone who really liked The Bad Ones too. I will have to check it out. What Feasts At Night is on my radar. I hope you enjoy your reading and have a great week! Stay safe!

Stay safe. Hunkering down sounds like a great idea, and hopefully there’ll be some good books to read. Looking forward to your thoughts on What Feasts at Night 😀

Reading and watching the snow fall is wonderful, I have to admit:-)
I love that moose and I really hope you guys are able to stay safe and have no real damage from the storms. I will keep you in my thoughts as the week moves forward! I’m anxious for some of your reviews this week.
Thanks Barb! So far the storm isn’t too bad. It’s snowing at the moment and it’s so pretty:-)
The picture is so beautiful!! And I am sorry for the storm!! I hope you’ll be safe! But at least is seems like you have some good reads planned for staying inside!!
Thanks Susy! We got a ton of snow in the past two days and now we are trapped (sort of) lol.
That Moose picture is fantastic.
Lynn 😀
