Don’t even get me started on the heat. It’s been in the high 80s all week and this week will be more of the same, with one or two days in the 90s. Sigh. Lots of indoor time, though. Not always a bad thing!
I decided to try the new Netflix remake of Little House on the Prairie, is anyone watching it? I have only watched the first episode so far. Spoiler: in the first 15 minutes, the Ingalls family is trying to get across a deep river with their covered wagon and horses, and their dog Jack decides to jump in the river and disappears. Laura and Mary are distraught, but because I’ve watched so much TV I figured that Jack would reappear at the end of the first episode. And if he didn’t, I wasn’t going to watch the show anymore. Luckily, the tried and true TV formula worked, and Jack makes it back to his family. I think I’ll keep going:-)
Upcoming reads & reviews:
I’m frantically trying to finish as many July releases as I can, but the month is ending too soon, lol. Can I please have one more week? At least Havoc is an August release, so I’m a little ahead for next month! Look for my review of Havoc tomorrow, it was a blast! I’m currently reading Bestiary and Sea of Charms, two completely different books, and I’ll have a review for at least one of them later in the week. Carry Me To My Grave might be next…

So it’s getting harder to find everyone’s Summer of Horror posts, and I’m stressing a bit over missing some. I’ve seen some comments from people who say they are participating but never signed up on my sign up sheet. Every Saturday I go through all the weekly posts of those who have signed up, and that’s how I get the list below. (thank you for signing up!) Next year I will have to do something different, because it does take quite a bit of time to compile a list each week.
So as an experiment, I created a very basic online spreadsheet where you can add your posts and include a link as well. This will be very helpful for me moving forward. Let’s try it! (And please let me know if the link doesn’t work for some reason).

I swear July folded itself in half or something, and we’re just working through a double-thickness July without enough time to do all the things! I’ve been frantically prioritising reading to clear my plate a bit for some birthday books, but somehow the books keep coming, hehe.

We’re gonna get hot weather this coming week again too. Everytime it goes a little down and we’re able to catch our breath it goes up again. Summer needs to stop it already.

I haven’t started the new Little House. I never really cared for the original novels or the original show, but maybe I’ll give this a try.
It has a much different vibe from the original, and I’m curious to see where it goes.
July went soooooo fast! And while I’m ready for my new job, I’m not ready for my summer to be over because I got very few things done that I’d planned for the summer. I will try the new Little House next time I subscribe to Netflix. My brother and I used to watch the original during the summers when we were kids and off from school. Bestiary looks like a scary one, I’ll be eager to read your review. Yeah, the heat here has been miserable too! I’m ready for fall! And Badger is adorable as always.
Thanks Lisa! I can’t wait for fall, but there’s still some hot days to get through. I loved Little House as a kid, so it will be interesting to see what changes they make.
I’m sorry it’s been so brutally hot for you. It has cooled down a mite here – but no rain!!! We haven’t had a drop in over a month and this is the country where it nearly always rains. I hope you are able to cope and thank you for yet another stunning pic of Badger. He does look as if he’s starring in his own TV show – just saying…

My daughter has been watching and enjoying the Little House remake. I grew up watching the original and it was a favorite so I can’t watch a remake. They have the original one on Tubi if you have that app. I’ll use the new Summer of Horror link sheet moving forward.

I agree, watching remakes is so strange. But I feel like there is enough distance from the original that it could be fun.
I’ve not watched the remake of Little House in the Prairie, but I’m starting to see some discussion about it. I watched the original a lot when I was a kid, though now I don’t remember much about it. Not sure I’ll watch the remake simply because I have other things that interest me more in my queue, but I’m glad you’re enjoying it!

Badger is beautiful. Yeah I’m done with the heat and humidity. This is why I do most of my blog ahead work in August. But I can’t believe July is nearly finished.

LOL I have to admit he is majestic! Yep, definitely hanging in there until autumn, although here we’re lucky if we get a few weeks of “real” autumn weather. (we dive right into winter)
Little House on the Prairie. Wow, I had no idea there was a remake out there. I hadn’t thought about that since I was a kid. I recall enjoying it back then.
I didn’t know about it either until I saw an add. It’s strange watching it with different actors:-)
Yeah it’s been quite boiling lately, I don’t get fahrenheit but if it’s anywhere like the weather near me then yeah, better stay inside! At least it’s good for reading. Oh, I love that so many people are participating in your Summer of Horror, good idea with the spreadsheet I’ll keep that in mind for next time 🙂

Sorry to hear about the heat where you are. Its continuing to get to me too. Good luck with your catch up plans as well. Glad to hear the dog survived as such a sudden animal death in a TV series would definitely put me off watching more too.
I hope your Summer Of Horror document makes it easier to keep track. It definitely sounds like a lot to handle.
