It honestly feels like we just started July, what happened?? But here we are, the last Saturday of the month, where I share my book haul. I’m very excited about these, although as usual I have overextended myself. Here are the books I received this month:
Books in the mail for review:
The Art of Charming a Changeling by Sylvie Cathrall. I’m very excited for this cozy fantasy. I loved A Letter to the Luminous Deep (although I haven’t caught up with the second book yet). This is an August release, so I hope to read it soon. With thanks to Orbit!
Pinfeathers by Christina Henry. I was thrilled to see this in my mailbox! It’s one of my most anticipated Fall releases. Huge thanks to Berkley for the ARC:-)
I Hope This Email Finds You in Hell by Mackenzie Reed. Also with thanks to Berkley, this sounds pretty funny. I am a bit worried about the office setting, since it didn’t work for me in a recent read, but it’s getting good reviews so far.
It Looks Like You in the Dark by Mathilda Zeller. This is an indigenous horror debut and takes place in Alaska. I may have to read this early to beat the summer heat! Big thanks to Tor Nightfire for the review copy.
Also courtesy of Tor Nightfire, I’m so excited to have a copy of Find Me Where It Ends by Cassandra Khaw. I’m a big fan of the author, so I can’t wait to read it.
Finally in this bunch, huge thanks to Saga Press for this beautiful finished copy of The Farewitch of Foxe Holler by Ellen Pauley Goff, which I just reviewed and loved. The edges are like a yellow/orange ombre, so pretty!
Summer Coven by Kat Hillis & Rosiee Thor is the second book in the series, but I believe it works as a standalone. We will find out! Big thanks to Berkley for the review copy.
I always hear good things about J.H. Markert, so I’m looking forward to reading their latest, The Chain House. This sounds nuts! It’s about a killer who is also a bestselling author (!!) and I’m here for it. Huge thanks to Crooked Lane Books for the copy.
I swear, there is so much good sounding horror coming out this October! Here’s another one, When the Night Comes Knocking by Katherine Daniel. And big thanks to Berkley (again! Berkley is the best!) for the copy.
The Fist of Memory by Wole Talabi. Let’s change directions now into science fiction. This is a first contact story set in Nigeria, and Talabi is a new author for me, so I’m very curious. Thank you DAW!
A Numbers Game by R.J. Dark. This is a crime thriller, not my usual genre, but the author is a pen name for R.J. Barker, whose fantasy I love, so I want to give this a try. Also, it looks like it’s the start to a series. Big thanks to Datura!
Digital books for review:
I’ve cut myself off NetGalley for the rest of year, lol. I went a bit crazy this month, and most of these are 2026 releases, so I need to be more careful. But who can resist them??
Crone by Keith Rosson. I have yet to try this very popular author, so here’s hoping I can squeeze in Crone this Fall. I always hear such good things about his books.
Bane Bloom by Sharon Lynn Fisher. Sharon is a must read author, and her upcoming fantasy sounds so good!
Roundabout (Detour #2) by Jeff Rake & Rob Hart. I loved the first book in this series (Detour) and I’m excited to see what happens next. This doesn’t come out until January (sigh of relief!)
The Two of Us at the End of the World by C.A. Fletcher. I downloaded this digital galley just in case the publisher doesn’t offer a physical copy. Can’t wait!
We Are Never Ever Solving This Murder by Sarah Fox. I really enjoyed the first book in the series, Definitely Maybe Not a Detective, so I’m curious to read the next installment. This is another January 2027 release.
What Feeds Below by Tatiana Schlote-Bonne. I’ve been seeing lots of good reviews for this, so I’m glad I’ll have the chance to read it.
Happy Hour by Gemma Amor. This is another horror book I’ve been seeing around everywhere, and since it’s short, I decided to try it out!
Savage Lake by Nick Medina. Nick Medina is another author I’ve been meaning to read for a long time. Hopefully this will be my first!
Havoc (Uncharted Hearts #4) by Constance Fay. The author kindly sent me a copy of her upcoming self-published sci-fi adventure/romance, and I’m happy to say I’ve already read it and loved it! (review coming next week)
