It’s been a week full of heat and bird watching! We have had so many birds in our garden lately, including an oriole that we didn’t even know lived up here. We have squirrels and ground squirrels who thrive right alongside the birds, it’s practically a zoo, lol. My photo today is one of “our” squirrels, probably waiting for the peanuts to appear.
I hope everyone is reading something good!

Tomorrow look for my review of Be Still My Unbeating Heart, which I liked, but didn’t love. It has a fantastic cat companion, though, and that character made the book for me. I’m currently reading The Farewitch of Foxe Holler (and will finish today, probably), and it is such a great surprise! I absolutely love it, the writing is top notch and the slow burn romance is adorable. After that I think I’ll read Havoc, a self published book and the fourth book in Constance Fay’s fantastic series, and I’m throwing Bestiary up here again, which I’d like to read next.

My grandpa used to have a squirrel that would always come to wait for peanuts too.
Awww very cute. They are scared of us and won’t come that close, but they are still really cute.
Wish we could be friends with the squirrels but around here they are just pest, they get into our ceiling and chew things they shouldn’t. They are cute though. Hope you fit in Bestiary I am curious to know what it’s about, the cover is creepy.
Oh shoot, that’s no good, sorry Stormi! We have never had a squirrel try to get in the house, but we did have a mouse once and it took forever to get rid of it, it was so smart!

I never saw as many squirrels than when I was in the US! They are everywhere when you go outside of towns and they are so cute!

I’ve always wanted to live somewhere where I could have squirell’s making visits but I never lived quite rural enough. And now I live in an apartment with just a balcony but I want to hang some things for birds!
You should! You’d be amazed at the critters that will visit if you leave seed or nuts out:-)
I love the idea of a backyard zoo! 🙂 Yeah, it’s been a hot one. And on Friday we had some nasty hazy weather caused by smoke from Canadian wildfires. Can’t imagine what it’s like to be closer to them, something you’ve had your own issues with local to you.
I’m sorry you’re dealing with the Canadian fires smoke, but yes, I have been through that kind of thing more times than I like.
The heat is here feel well over 100 but at least this week we have some rain projected. OK that squirrel is creepy and they are rodents.
LOL then you will not want to hear that I’m fond of rats too:-)

I looked up orioles, and they’re so pretty, all in the yellow-to-orange range! I love the hopeful squirrel too LOL.

I cannot believe the month is flying by so fast! Great pic of the squirrel! We enjoy nature watching at home too and had a rabbit make a nest under my Rose of Sharon tree this summer … weeks later we saw the teeny bunnies on the security cam once they were big enough to leave, so cute. Enjoy your books this week, Farewitch of Foxe Holler does sound good.

It’s been tough here. Some days, we were not even able to be on our porch because the air quality reached DANGEROUS levels (due to Ontario wildfires)
So sorry! Stay inside where it’s safer!
Aw. What a cute squirrel photo! I think they’re so cute, especially when they stay away from my garden.
Thank you! Luckily we can’t really grow vegetables up here, so we don’t have to worry about that.
I love that picture of the squirrel. The boys love seeing them. We used to see more around here a few years back but have some black ones in our area now.
