Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer.
So someone in our town decided that Badger would be the perfect choice for honorary Mayor (yes, it’s a thing here, although it’s usually a human) and has submitted a letter to the voting board explaining why. Of course this is so exciting! And it makes sense, because nearly everyone in town knows and loves him (not the UPS or Amazon drivers, though). I will let you know how things unfold…
There’s a nice long holiday weekend coming up! I have Friday off for Independence Day, and I’m taking Thursday off so I can spend the day with my mom on her birthday. Fire up the grill everyone! If you are in the US, I hope you have a nice weekend. I used to dread the 4th of July because of fireworks, but up here in the mountains, they are illegal, so it’s always nice and quiet.
Upcoming reads & reviews:
Tomorrow I’ll have my review up for It Came From Neverland, an emotional and unique take on the Peter Pan story. I’m currently reading The Inn at the Foot of Mount Vengeance, which is off to a slow start, but I am enjoying the cozy vibe, so we’ll see how it goes. Next I’ll probably dive into The Exquisite Torment of Loving Your Enemy, and I’m determined to read Daytide for Summer of Horror, and even though it isn’t a review book, I might start it this week.
Other posts this week:
It’s another busy blogging week! Top Ten Tuesday is your most anticipated books of the second half of 2026, so stop by and see my list! Wednesday is Future Fiction (I’m still figuring out what new books to share), and Thursday we’re already into July, so I’ll post What’s On My Plate, the books I hope to read next month. Just because the way the days are falling, I’m pushing my June wrap-up post to Saturday.
Summer of Horror Updates:

Thanks to everyone who posted Summer of Horror posts this past week! If I missed your post, do leave a comment and let me know, and I’ll add it to next week’s list. I’m trying to catch them all! I appreciate all your excitement and hard work:-)

Mayor Badger has a good ring to it!
I’ve been eyeing The Inn at the Foot of Mount Vengeance this weekend and eventually put it on my wishlist, but I’d love to see your review to decide whether it stays or not, hahaha.
Thanks for featuring mine!
Ahh, that is cool that people like your dog enough to want him to be honorary mayor! Hope it happens!
Badger for Mayor! Wishing you a wonderful holiday!
I’d vote for Badger! Hope you like The Exquisite Torment!
Hurray for Mayor Badger!! Hope you enjoy your long weekend!
I’m extremely jealous you have The Exquisite Torment of Loving Your Enemy, I plan to buy it first thing next Tuesday when it’s released.
Thanks for sharing your week, happy reading
Badger for (honorary) Mayor! I’d vote for him! Sounds like you have a great upcoming weekend. Hope you enjoy it!
Badger as honorary mayor would be amazing Tammy!
I support Badger as mayor!
Will be returning to check out your review of It Came from Neverland. Definitely one I am interested in.
I’d vote for Badger any day of the week. Hoping he wins. I think it should be a no-brainer of a decision. I have a new review going up later today or tomorrow for Summer of Horror. I’ve found some really good reads so far. We are anticipating a heat wave this week so after work I’ll be sitting in the AC and reading.
Badger for Mayor – it’s a no brainer really. He has my sword, umm, vote!
Lynn 😀
Good luck to Badger. I read a book earlier this year where they had a dog for the town mayor and thought it was charming but strange, apparently it really can happen though lol. I hope your mom has a lovely birthday and that you enjoy the long weekend over there. Ive got to figure out when to post (and write) my wrap up post too. I’ve kind of fallen behind blog wise over the last few days and don’t really know how.
Ooo… How exciting ! Fingers crossed that Badger gets elected:) And the fact that his election is being proposed tells me a lot about the quirky community where you live:))). Hope you’re having a lovely week and enjoy your long weekend, Tammy!
Hope you’re enjoying your time off. And I think we’re all ready for Mayor Badger to take office! 🙂
I saw your husband’s post about Badger for Mayor over on his Facebook page and just hadn’t had time to come see what you said about it yet, but that’s so much fun! I’m so behind on reading and commenting again, that I think I’m going to just go into my saved email folder of posts to comment on and just delete before a certain date to make it so I’m not feeling like I’ll never get through them all. Which means I’ll miss out on some of your reviews, ugh. Decisions! Hope you had a good week, and I’ll be back tomorrow probably to see!
