Over-Booked [219] – June 2026 Book Haul

Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! There is a new blog hosting Stacking the Shelves, so do check out Reading Reality for more information!

June’s book haul brought some of my most anticipated Fall releases, and of course I’m grateful to the publishers & publicists for sending book mail and approving NetGalley requests. Take a look:

Books in the mail for review:

Huge thanks to G.P Putnam’s Sons for a copy of Newbourne Park by Jennifer Thorne. This is a September release, but I might try to sneak it in before Summer of Horror is over!

I’m thrilled to have a finished copy of The Exquisite Torment of Loving Your Enemy, which comes out in early July. I loved the first book, and I’ve heard this one is even better! Thank you Ace Books!

I just started reading The Inn at the Foot of Mount Vengeance by Chiara Bullen, and it’s just the cozy fantasy I didn’t know I needed:-) Huge thanks to Del Rey for sending this beautiful finished copy, with artwork on the endpapers!

The next three books are from the lovely folks at Tor Books, thank you!

Bodies of Magic by Freya Marske. I have loved Marske’s books in the past, and this new one sounds great.

I’m so excited to have a physical copy of The Killing of a Chestnut Tree by Oliver K. Langmead. This is the start to a cozy mystery/fantasy series, and I know Langmead is going to do a great job with this genre mash-up:-)

Nghi Vo is another author I’ve loved in the past, so I’m looking forward to her upcoming Edith Wharton inspired fantasy, The Scarlet Ball.

From the lovely folks at Orbit, I received The Winter Folk by Jen Julian. This is Appalachian Gothic horror, and because it’s a July release, I’ll be reading it soon.

The Burn Line by Jonathan Sims is also a July release. I’ve been hearing good things about this! Big thanks to Poisoned Pen Press for the review copy.

Taking a break from horror, I received a lovely copy of Reap & Sow by Charlotte B. Plumb, courtesy of Berkley XO, which I believe is a new romantasy imprint from the publisher.

If We Survive the Night by Jo Salazar is a YA zombie/apocalypse story, and despite my hesitation over reading YA, this sounds fantastic! Big thanks to Sourcebooks Fire:-)

The last two books are from the wonderful folks at Saga Press: Mazywood by Tananarive Due is a departure for the author, or at least it seems to be. This is a generational thriller that follows an actress, and I can’t wait to dive in!

And the Dues & Don’ts of Magic by Delemhach is from the author of The House Witch series, which I’ve always been curious about.

Digital books for review:

Lots of exciting NetGalley approvals this month, starting with Pinfeathers by Christina Henry. I cannot wait!

And I was FINALLY approved for Kiss Slay Replay by Rachel Harrison, which was hanging out there for quite a while:-)

I grabbed The Porcelain Sisters by Daryl Gregory as soon as it popped up. I never miss one of his books!

The Museum of Cursed Artifacts by Evan Spiliotopoulos was a book I just featured on Future Fiction, and I’m so glad to have a copy. I can breathe a little because this doesn’t come out until next March (!!)

Winterset Hollow by Jonathan Edward Durham. This is an older book that is being released by Union Square & Co, and it really sounds good. This appears to be a “fiction is real” type of story, and I’m excited to read it:-)

She’s a Doll by Barbara Truelove. This is another Future Fiction pick, and I couldn’t resist requesting it. It sounds creepy and perfect for the Halloween season:-)

Finally, I was approved for Blacktail by Scott Hawkins. I still haven’t read The Library at Mount Char, but I always hear amazing things about this author.

Big thanks to Berkely, Tachyon Publications, Atria Books, Union Square & Co, Bindery Books & Crown:-D

Are you planning on reading any of these?
