I always look forward to November, which is SciFi Month, but as usual, I have books from other genres that I’m excited to read as well. This is a much lighter month than September and October, thankfully, so hopefully I can get through the majority of these books. First, here are the books I hope to read this month:
Outlaw Planet by M.R. Carey. Carey is a go to author for me, so a new book is always exciting!
The Blackfire Blade by James Logan. I loved the first book in the series (The Silverblood Promise) so I’m expecting this to be a blast as well.
Tea & Alchemy by Sharon Lynn Fisher. This is actually a January release, but Sharon gave me permission to read it early;-)
Turns of Fate by Anne Bishop. Super excited to start a new series by this talented author.
Snake-Eater by T. Kingfisher. I hear this is more fantasy than horror, but I’m here for it!
30Seven by Jeremy Robinson. This is a January release that I want to read early for SciFi Month, and it sounds really good.
The Great Work by Sheldon Costa. The publishers are calling this a “speculative Western,” although I don’t get that vibe from the cover. Still, I want to know more about the cute salamander!
Violet Thistlewaite is Not a Villain Anymore by Emily Krempholtz. Another unwieldy cozy fantasy title, lol, but I am looking forward to this one.
You Watched in Silence by H. Lee Justine. This queer horror/thriller sounds really good, and the reviews are promising!
Shiny Happy People by Clay McLeod Chapman. This is Clay’s YA debut, I think? I’m very curious to see how he handles this age group.

It wouldn’t be November without SciFi Month, and I have a few things planned. Big thanks to this year’s hosts, who keep everything organized: imyril @ There’s Always Room For One More; Annemieke @ A Dance With Books, Lisa @ Dear Geek Place & Mayri @ bookforager. You can check out their links for more information on the events this month!
In addition to Outlaw Planet and 30Seven (above) I’d love to catch up with some overdue science fiction 2025 ARCs:
Also, keep an eye out for a few lists! For sure, look for:

Our hosts have come up with some fun prompts during the month, and here are a couple that caught my eye.

This month is really weird in that (a) we share some books lol, and (b) I might actually have more of them on my list than you. Seriously, I can’t believe you think this month is light, literally everything is coming out on the 4th! Carpal tunnel has put a few November things in the lurch, so I don’t think I’ll get to Scifi Month. But I’ll make sure to check in on your progress! Best of luck!!
Thanks Will! LOL I know, what’s up with the November 4 release date? Hey, I’ve already read one of those!
Looking forward to 26 Science Fiction Books to Read in 2026!
I’m working on my list now, and it’s over 26, so let the cuts begin…
I’m really looking forward to Turns of Fate too. SciFi Month is going to be a lot of fun!
It is, I’m excited for a fun month:-)
How many interesting books!! The Blackfire Blade will be my next read and I am over excited about that one. And I can wait for the new Anne Bishop book to come out!! (But really, the waiting is good for my TBR because I have so many books I am excited to start!!).
I won’t officially take part to Sci-fi Month this year but I still have a ton of sci-fi books I kept for November so I will definitely read some of them! And I am curious to read your lists!!
Have an amazing month!!
Thank you Susy! I hope we both have an amazing month:-)
I do want to read Apprehension (MRK is a favorite author of mine!), and while I’ve scaled way back on ARCs and reading plans for the rest of the year, M. R. Carey and T. Kingfisher are always high on my must-read list! Can’t wait to hear more about all of these. Enjoy!
Thanks Lisa! November has lots of great choices:-)
Ooh…Outlaw Planet looks really good. Can’t wait to check that one out. 😀
I’m excited, and the author never disappoints:-)
Ooo, I’m particularly looking forward to reading your thoughts on Apprehension and Outlaw Planet – those 2 have been on my radar.
Happy reading!
Thank you! It should be a fun month:-)
Hope you enjoy all your reads!
Thanks Stormi!
Good luck with sci-fi month! I’ve finally admitted to myself I just don’t read sci-fi very often, so I’m not gonna force myself to join.
Good call, it will definitely take away some stress!
These look like fun! I hope you enjoy your November reads! I’m curious to see how Apprehension / Red Star Hustle works. Sounds like a fun gimmick, at least.
Thank you! I agree, it sounds like fun, and I hope I have time to read it.
I’m reading Turns of Fate, Outlaw Planet and Violet Thistlewaite. Robin is reading Snake-Eater.
I’ll definitely look out for all your reviews.
Some of these look like a lot of fun! You’ve got me curious about The Great Work.
I’m really looking forward to The Great Work, I mean that cover, right?
Oh nooo… November this year has crept up on me – to the extent that I complete forgot it was Sci Fi Month and I don’t think I have ANY sci fi books lined up to read. So I’ll give it a pass and hope to be more organised next year! You have some interesting books for this month and I hope you thoroughly enjoy them:).
Than you Sarah! Science fiction seems to be a little scarce this year. I only have a handful to read.
I am not participating but one that could fit is the Will of the Many and I plan to read it in November!
That’s a good one, I hope you love it!
I love that cover for The Blackfire Blade. That alone would be enough for me to try the book, but I also look forward to your thoughts. I’d forgotten about November as SciFi Month and I’ve already gone and started an historical thriller, but I did just finish reading Contact by Carl Sagan, so maybe that counts. 🙂
That definitely counts!
Can’t wait to find a sci-fi here that tempts me. I don’t read a lot of the genre but do like it from time to time. I’m tempted to preorder the Anne Bishop book. It sounds so good and the start of a new series always excites me, Hope you have a wonderful reading month!
I am really looking forward to Violet Thistlewaite. I forgot about 30Seven. Hope you enjoy all that you pick up this month!
Some interesting books here on this list! Can’t wait to get your reviews on the ones you get to.
For some reason, I just don’t seem to be reading as much sci-fi anymore, and I’m not even getting pitched many. I think the genre is being crowded out by more popular genres like romantasy. I would have trouble filling my sci-fi TBR if I was still doing SFmonth, but I hope to still get a couple titles in here and there!
Hoping to read the Carey book – although I’m playing a little bit of catch up from October. Can’t wait to read The Blackfire Blade.
Lynn 😀
