Welcome to Future Fiction, my reimagining of the Waiting on Wednesday meme! There are so many amazing new books coming out, that I can no longer pick just one. My goal with Future Fiction is to share at least three new books each week, a combination of recent cover reveals and books that I’ve recently added to my TBR pile. I’m still going to be linking up with Wishful Endings/Can’t Wait Wednesday, and I also want to give a shout out to Jill at Breaking the Spine for starting the original Waiting on Wednesday meme. Today’s cover reveals include two science fiction and one horror book, and they all sound amazing, take a look:

Detour by Jeff Rake & Rob Hart. Releases in January 2026 from Random House Worlds. I’m excited to see a new Rob Hart book on the horizon! I cannot wait for this sci-fi thriller, and it will be interesting to see how Hart’s style works with another writer.

Sure, they might have said something like that—that’s kind of the point of going off the grid, isn’t it? But no one thought it would happen quite so literally. The Legend Liminal by Ren Hutchings. Releases in September 2025 from Stars and Sabers Publishing. This is Gareth L. Powell’s new publishing company, a writer I admire the hell out out of, so I’m keeping a close eye on their books. I have yet to read anything by Hutchings, so this might be a good place to start. It sounds awesome, a sci-fi road trip story with some interesting themes.

Wretch by Eric LaRocca. Releases in March 2026 from Saga Press. LaRocca has become very popular in the last few years, and I love that he has a new book coming out from Saga Press. I love this cover, and I can’t wait to read it!
I love the cover of Wretch too. I really like those vintage looking covers. And the story sounds also really good (and crazy!) 😛

Detour sounds amazing! And I’m intrigued by the fact that it’s cowritten by a writer from Manifest (which I loved).

The Legend Luminal sounds fun but I just looked and it’s only 80 pages. Wonder if they will pack a punch. Eric Larocca is really churning them out isn’t he? Great choices this week.

This is so funny because I literally just added the first two to my June recap post, because I am so excited for them both! I just went to Goodreads to add Wretch to my TBR, obviously I neeeeed it, thanks for putting it on my radar!
You always have books on your wrap up posts that I haven’t heard of, so I’m looking forward to it!
I’ll have to watch out for your thoughts on all three of these but Wretch in particular intrigues me I think. I’ll wait to head what they’re like before adding them to my TBR but they definitely sound interesting.

I don’t read much sci-fi, but Detour looks interesting! It sounds kind of in the vein of Project Hail Mary, what with the thriller designation.
I was thinking Detour has an Andy Weir vibe to it!
I love the covers for Detour and The Legend Liminal and the premises for Eric LaRocca’s books always sound like fever dreams but I’m kind of intrigued !
