Welcome to Future Fiction, my reimagining of the Waiting on Wednesday meme! There are so many amazing new books coming out, that I can no longer pick just one. My goal with Future Fiction is to share at least three new books each week, a combination of recent cover reveals and books that I’ve recently added to my TBR pile. I’m still going to be linking up with Wishful Endings/Can’t Wait Wednesday, and I also want to give a shout out to Jill at Breaking the Spine for starting the original Waiting on Wednesday meme. I hope you’ll find some new books to add to your TBR piles, and as always, I look forward to hearing what YOU’RE looking forward to:-D
Today’s cover reveals include two science fiction and one horror book, and they all sound amazing, take a look:

A group of astronauts fight to return to their loved ones when their journey goes off-course in this mind-bending sci-fi thriller from the creator of the hit Netflix series Manifest and the bestselling author of The Warehouse.
Ryan Crane wasn’t looking for trouble—just a cup of coffee. But when he spots a gunman emerging from an unmarked van, he leaps into action and unknowingly saves John Ward, a billionaire with presidential aspirations, from an assassination attempt.
As thanks for Ryan’s quick thinking, Ward rewards him with the chance of a lifetime: to join a group of lucky civilians accompanying three professional astronauts on the first manned mission to Saturn’s moon Titan.
A devoted family man, Ryan is reluctant to leave on this two-year expedition, but with the encouragement of his loving wife—and an exorbitant paycheck guaranteeing lifetime care for their disabled son—he crews up.
Little could Ryan know that this mystifying journey would forever change his life and the lives of his crewmates. Just when their space adventure seemingly ends, it shockingly begins.
Detour by Jeff Rake & Rob Hart. Releases in January 2026 from Random House Worlds. I’m excited to see a new Rob Hart book on the horizon! I cannot wait for this sci-fi thriller, and it will be interesting to see how Hart’s style works with another writer.

Stacey Kells never expected to fall out of reality when she packed her bags, got into a camper van with her two brothers and their best friend, and started travelling west. Sure, they might have said something like that—that’s kind of the point of going off the grid, isn’t it? But no one thought it would happen quite so literally. Then the world got real empty, and it stayed empty.
Now it’s just the four of them, and a map that doesn’t make sense, and miles upon miles of desert and sky and endless empty highway. They embarked on this road trip to figure out what to do with their lives—but their lives don’t seem to exist anymore, and there may not be a way back home.
The Legend Liminal is a story about grief and hope, and the way we find lifelines in each other when we can’t break free of the spiral of the past.
The Legend Liminal by Ren Hutchings. Releases in September 2025 from Stars and Sabers Publishing. This is Gareth L. Powell’s new publishing company, a writer I admire the hell out out of, so I’m keeping a close eye on their books. I have yet to read anything by Hutchings, so this might be a good place to start. It sounds awesome, a sci-fi road trip story with some interesting themes.

From rising horror star and award-winning author of Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke comes a nightmarish, haunting, tech-Gothic thrill ride about sorrow, memory, and the unabashed complexity of love as a transgressive act.
After his husband dies, Simeon Link finds himself overcome by grief and seeking comfort in an unusual support group called The Wretches, who offer an addictive and dangerous source of relief. They introduce Simeon to a curious figure known as Porcelain Khaw—a man with the ability to let those who are grieving have one last intimate moment with their beloved…for a price.
Hallucinatory, fiendish, and destructively beautiful, Wretch transports us to a world where not everything is as it seems, and those we love may be the ones who haunt us most.
Wretch by Eric LaRocca. Releases in March 2026 from Saga Press. LaRocca has become very popular in the last few years, and I love that he has a new book coming out from Saga Press. I love this cover, and I can’t wait to read it!

I love the cover of Wretch too. I really like those vintage looking covers. And the story sounds also really good (and crazy!) 😛
His stories are always crazy, lol.
Detour sounds amazing! And I’m intrigued by the fact that it’s cowritten by a writer from Manifest (which I loved).
I haven’t seen Manifest, but the fact that you loved it is a good sign:-)
I’m going to need to read Detour as soon as possible. It sounds amazing, and I loved Manifest and The Warehouse. Thank you for sharing! Hope you enjoy these 🙂
I’m a big Rob Hart fan too, I can’t wait!
Detour looks amazing.
Anne – Books of My Heart
I agree!
Okay, I’m sold on Detour! 🙂
Me too, and I love the author:-)
The Legend Luminal sounds fun but I just looked and it’s only 80 pages. Wonder if they will pack a punch. Eric Larocca is really churning them out isn’t he? Great choices this week.
I didn’t realize it’s a novella, now I’m even more curious:-) Yes, Eric LaRocca has so many books coming out!
This is so funny because I literally just added the first two to my June recap post, because I am so excited for them both! I just went to Goodreads to add Wretch to my TBR, obviously I neeeeed it, thanks for putting it on my radar!
You always have books on your wrap up posts that I haven’t heard of, so I’m looking forward to it!
I’ll have to watch out for your thoughts on all three of these but Wretch in particular intrigues me I think. I’ll wait to head what they’re like before adding them to my TBR but they definitely sound interesting.
I want to read all three, so I will let you know at some point, how I enjoy them:-)
Detour sounds so good. I like the cover for The Legend Liminal too 😀
Yes, that cover for The Legend Liminal looks like it’s going to be really fun:-)
I don’t read much sci-fi, but Detour looks interesting! It sounds kind of in the vein of Project Hail Mary, what with the thriller designation.
I was thinking Detour has an Andy Weir vibe to it!
I love the covers for Detour and The Legend Liminal and the premises for Eric LaRocca’s books always sound like fever dreams but I’m kind of intrigued !
I’m always intrigued by Eric’s books too:-)
I’ve actually not heard of Eric LaRocca but the description of his book definitely interests me!
I love the sound of The Legend Liminal and the cover is giving me Scooby Doo vibes!
Lynn 😀
They all sound intriguing! And they all have quite peculiar covers, in their own way!
