Buffy’s Corner 3/3/24 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D

It’s pouring rain and I’m putting together IKEA bookcases this weekend (I’m starting up my library cataloguing project again). I finished the first season of You and it was so good. I’ve started the second and it will be interesting to see if it’s as good (not sure yet, it’s very different!) I hope everyone has a great week:-)

Upcoming reads & reviews:

I swerved a bit with my reading plan last week. I started reading The Briar Book of the Dead and it wasn’t really grabbing me, so I set it aside to read Murder Road. I’ve just finished The Glass Woman, which was very different from what I expected. Look for reviews of Murder Road and The Glass Woman later this week. I hope to get back to The Briar Book, and then I’m diving into my March books starting with Forgotten Sisters.

Other posts this week:

This will be a lighter week on the blog. On Tuesday I’m doing the “Reading Firsts” tag, which I forgot to do last year, oops; and Wednesday I have three exciting books to share on Future Fiction.

In case you missed:

  1. I’ll trade you for some rain. It’s just been off and on snowing here, though not nearly enough. But I guess that rain is preferable to that 3-10 feet of snow they were predicting for Yosemite, eh?

Can’t wait for the library tours to become available!

  2. Hi Tammy! That pic your husband too is really cool! Hope you are doing well and not flooded with all the rain. Are you anywhere were I have seen them talking about a lot of snow coming?

Have a great week and happy reading!

Luckily I am pretty far from all the snow storms in California, which are up in the northern part of the state (I’m in Southern California). It looks bad but I’m glad it’s not me!

  3. Those Aricaris look interesting. Not a bird I’d heard of before. I was thinking their head feathers looked very wet, or perhaps in the middle of a plumage change, but then I noticed the water on the leaves, so I’m guessing they’re still drying out from a rain. Very cool. 🙂

  4. You’ve already read the new Susan Dennard book? I know I can’t wait for it! Will read it closer to the pub date if I can get my hands on it as an e-galley before then. Would love to have it as an ARC but I know so rarely do they do that 3rd book as an ARC. The picture is beautiful as always. We need some rain here! We’ve had fire alerts here because we are so dry and windy. Hope you have a good week!

No, I haven’t read it, but I shared the cover reveal on Future Fiction. I wish! Ha ha I hope we both get copies at some point:-) Have a good week!

  5. We are also supposed to get more rain this week. So I’ll be avoiding storms to go out and walk. Great photo! I’m trying to stay ahead on my ARCs which is really a challenge with audio ARCs which are often released right around release date.

  6. We’ve been having rain and wind – not too bad though tbf and we do need the rain really.
Happy reading this week, I hope you manage to get into the Briar book – I really enjoyed that one.
    Lovely colourful photo.

I remember you loved The Briar Book of the Dead. I think I need to just keep reading, I have heard the beginning is a little slow.

It’s definitely a challenge finding wall space! Thanks Shelleyrae, hope you have a great week too:-)

  7. It was wonderful to suddenly have a day and a half without any rain – we’ve had so much rainfall this year. Best of luck with your library cataloguing project – I’m aware it’s a huge job for you. And thank you for the pic of the lovely birds – how special. Have a great week, Tammy:).

  8. I’ll actually be curious to hear what you think of season two of You, my husband and I watched the first two and haven’t gotten to the third–the second really is quite different, haha. I really love that cover for The Briar Book of the Dead, and Forgotten Sisters looks interesting, too! Hope you have a great week!

I’ve only watched the first two episodes of season two and so far I like it a lot. I love that Jenna Ortega is part of the cast!

  9. Sounds like you made the most of the rainy days! I love new bookcases! I am curious about The Briar Book of the Dead and hope it was just a matter of timing for you and not the book that proves to be what kept it from grabbing you. Or hopefully it will get better, if that’s the case. I know how that goes though! I am really looking forward to Murder Road. I hope you enjoyed it. I love the photo you shared. Such beautiful birds. The detail your husband captured is amazing as always. Have a great week, Tammy!

I’m definitely going back to the Briar Book of the Dead, I’ve heard so many good things, and I think I may have been distracted when I picked it up. Thanks Wendy, I hope you have a good week as well:-)

I love my husband’s Costa Rica photos, since all of the animals and birds seem exotic to me:-)
