What’s On My Plate – March 2024

How can it be March already? I’m happy to report my March TBR is much more manageable than my February TBR was, although I hope to review a few left-over February books this month as well. Here are the nine books I hope to read and review this month:

Starting off with my most anticipated book of the month is The Angel of Indian Lake by Stephen Graham Jones, the finale to his Indian Lake Trilogy. I know he’s going to crush the ending of Jade’s story, and I can’t wait to dive in.

Diavola by Jennifer Thorne is about a family on a destination vacation, and it sounds fantastic. I loved her last book, so I can’t wait to start this.

Floating Hotel by Grace Curtis. I’ve heard a bunch of good things about Curtis’s last book, Frontier, and this cozy SF story sounds like a lot of fun.

I just haven’t read enough Simone St. James, so I’m very glad she has a new book coming out this month. Murder Road seems like it will have her trademark combination of thriller and supernatural elements.

Forgotten Sisters will be my first Cynthia Pelayo book, and I’m looking forward to this haunted house story that takes place in Chicago.

A Botanical Daughter by Noah Medlock is a queer horror story set in the Victorian era, with shades of Frankenstein. I mean, come on! Don’t you want to read this too?

Three Kinds of Lucky by Kim Harrison is the start to a new urban fantasy series, and it’s getting a lot of love so far!

And for this month’s vampire selection, I’m hoping to read Thirst by Marina Yuszczuk, a dual timeline story that sounds really good.

Finally, I randomly selected a book from my 2024 TBR Jar and chose The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty! I’ve been doing well so far reading my TBR Jar books each month, and I don’t want to break my streak in March. I cannot wait!

Do we have any books in common this month? What are your most anticipated March reads?

  1. I have a copy of The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi which I’m hoping to get to this year so will look out for your review. I hope you enjoy it.
Also interested in the new Simone St. James, and I love the cover for The Floating Hotel.
Hope you enjoy a good month of reading. πŸ˜€

  2. I’ve actually read one of these, Floating Hotel, so it’ll be interesting to see how you find it. I also really need to get to Amina soon as well. I hope you enjoy all of these and that the series finale lives up to your expectations.

I’ve heard Floating Hotel follows multiple POVs and is sort of…different? So I’m a little worried but also curious:-)

I’m sure I’ll love Adventures, it seems to be one of those universal books that everyone loves.

  3. I’m glad you picked The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi. I’ve been very curious about that one. And the title, Forgotten Sisters, reminded me of those Sisters of the Vast Black novellas by Lina Rather. It feels too long since I read either of those and would love to see another written.

I’ve just started Forgotten Sisters and it’s so different from what I expected. But it’s growing on me:-)

  4. I’ve read Floating Hotel…it was different from what I expected, and nowhere near as exciting as I love my books, but a valid effort. Curious about your reaction!

  5. I have the Simone St James – it will be my first read by this author and I’m really looking forward to it.
Hope your March reads go to plan – I’ve read the Chakraborty book and really enjoyed it.

I hope you enjoy Murder Road:-) And I can’t wait to read my TBR Jar book, everyone seems to love it.

  6. Good luck with all of these. I may have to check out Thirst as I am craving more vamps in my life. I also hope to read the new Kim Harrison book. Glad to hear it’s getting a lot of love. This year is flying by already!

I’m hoping I can read enough vampire books this year to put a list together by the end of the year, lol.
