Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
Yes, I survived Hurriquake 2023. We didn’t feel the earthquake, it was too far away, but Mother Nature was out in full force last week. Hurricane Hilary blew through here over the course of about 36 hours. We had non stop heavy rain but very little wind, so overall I feel pretty lucky. Our house and garden had no damage at all, but there were some flooded out streets around town that are being fixed, and lots of debris in the roads.
In happier news, my daughter flew into Southern California yesterday, and as we speak I am busy packing up some of the stuff she’s stored at our house for the past five years and moving her into a rental house about an hour away. It will be a long day, but I can’t think of anything I’d rather be doing:-)
Upcoming reads & reviews:
August really flew by, and of course I had a boatload of review books (way too many!). I read as many as I could but ran out of days to post reviews, lol. I’ll end the month with reviews of My Roommate is a Vampire and Cruel Angels Past Sundown, and then I’m diving into my (also very big) pile of September books. Starting with Schrader’s Chord and The September House!
Other posts this week:
With my daughter moving back to California, I have less time to blog and read this week, but I’m still planning on the usual: Wednesday is Future Fiction with three new cover reveals, don’t miss it! Thursday is the last day of the month, so I’m posting my August Wrap-Up. And Friday is September 1st! So look for What’s On My Plate to see what I’ll be attempting to read next month:-)
In case you missed:

I don’t know where you daughter lived before, but it sounds great that now she’s only an hour away! Also glad the hurricane didn’t hit you badly. I hope you can find the time to read (and review) despite being busy. Love the pic! Great composition.

Glad the hurricane wasn’t that bad and happy for you that your daughter is moving closer to home. I am really curious about September House!
Have a great week and happy reading!

I’m very glad to hear your daughter will be moving relatively close by, that’s fantastic. Also glad to hear you made it through all Mother Nature had on offer. Hopefully the garden was able to benefit from the extra water, though sometimes it comes down too hard for that. Stormy weather often makes for beautiful photography, nice work by Moses.
Great that you didn’t have storm damage. Exciting to have a day with your daughter and her living closer.

I’m so glad she’s closer. It will be much easier to help her when she needs me:-)
I’m glad to see you didn’t have any damage from Hilary. It was rather poetic, in a sense, that there was also an earthquake while Hilary was in California. Not what you all needed, though! Have fun spending time with your daughter. 🙂

I didn’t believe it at first when I heard about the earthquake! Thanks Celeste:-)
Glad you didn’t get any damage from the hurricane! What a crazy time for you guys with all that going on! Love the picture at the end too. How wonderful that your daughter is going to be that close. I know you’re going to love it! I can’t wait to read your review of My Roommate is a Vampire as that is high on my TBR list! Hope you enjoy it! Have a great week.

I am glad that you didn’t suffer any damage with the hurricane! That “after the hurricane” picture is gorgeous though.
It looks so peaceful after the storm, right?
I’m so glad you guys survived the hurriquake OK. Mother nature is so angry. That’s so great that your daughter will be close!

So glad you didn’t have any storm damage! How awesome that your daughter will be only an hour away — I’m jealous! Can’t wait to hear about the vampire book — it looks really cute. Have a great week!
Thanks Lisa, you too!
Have a great move! And glad you guys weren’t hit too hard with that Hurriquake. Nature has been crazy lately.

Thanks Greg! Nature has been extra crazy…
It’s a relief that you escaped the storm unscathed. And hope the move with your daughter has gone well.
I look forward to your upcoming reviews.
Lynn 😀
Thanks Lynn! I am glad the storm is over…
How wonderful with your daughter moving back home! I remember the post where you talked about her moving to Boston like it was yesterday. Also glad you guys came out of the hurriquake okay. My parents are in Nevada and they are on alert from flash flooding from all the rain out in the west.

The weather everywhere is just crazy! I hope your parents are ok…
It’s great to hear that the hurricane didn’t cause any damage for you (and that’s a really dramatic photo this week), and how lovely that your daughter will be closer to home.
I’m looking forward to your review of My Roommate is a Vampire, which sounds like it could be spooky and fun too 😀
I do love having my daughter back in California:-)
I’m glad you avoided the impact of Hilary and the earthquake
My Roommate is a Vampire looks like a fun read.
Wishing you a happy reading week
Thanks Shelleyrae, you too:-)
I bet it will be great having your daughter so close again. An hour isn’t bad at all! I have TOO many books to get to in September and October. I need to prioritize better but I guess the main this is having fun doing it. Glad you didn’t have any real hurricane damage.
September and October are out of control, but I think they usually are. I have zero control, lol.
Very relieved to hear you weren’t affected too badly by the hurricane – or the earthquake! And how lovely to have your daughter moving closer to you:)). Have a great week, Tammy.
Thanks Sarah, you too!
So glad there was no damage at your place, but wow, 36 hours, that’s a looooong time!!

It was a ton of rain! About 8 inches overall.
An earthquake and a hurricane. Wow, what a week. And how wonderful to have your daughter moving close by. Florida is my neighbor and they are getting hit hard with a hurricane. it’s blue skies where I’m at.
