Most Anticipated Books for the Second Half of 2023

I’m linking up with Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Check out upcoming Top Ten themes on Jana’s blog!

I debated whether to do this post or not, since my Quarterly Most Anticipated posts are similar, but I thought it would be fun to look forward to the end of the year, even if this list might be a little repetitive, lol. I’ve decided to pick my top three books for each month, July through December, and trust me, it was HARD to narrow this list down. This is by no means a complete list, but if I could only read three books each month, these are the ones I would pick. December is usually light on new releases, so I have only found two for that month. Also of note, the cover for Iron Flame was just revealed and I HAD to include it on this list, but you will also see it featured in my Future Fiction post tomorrow:-) Titles are linked to Goodreads if you’d like to read the story description or add these books to your TBR:

July most anticipated:

Burn the Negative by Josh Winning | Boys in the Valley by Philip Fracassi | Silver Nitrate by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

August most anticipated:

Looking Glass Sound by Catriona Ward | Whalefall by Daniel Kraus | Vampires of El Norte by Isabel Cañas

September most anticipated:

Black River Orchard by Chuck Wendig | Black Sheep by Rachel Harrison | Schrader’s Chord by Scott Leeds

October most anticipated:

Starling House by Alix E. Harrow | Bloom by Delilah S. Dawson | Edenville by Sam Rebelein

November most anticipated:

Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros | The Star and the Strange Moon by Constance Sayers | The Ghosts of Beatrice Bird by Louisa Morgan

December most anticipated:

The Paleontologist by Luke Dumas | Where the Dead Wait by Ally Wilkes

Are you anticipating any of these books?

  1. The two I’m most anticipating are probably Black River Orchid because Wendig has become a must-read author for me over the past couple years, and Starling House because I’ve been curious to read more by Harrow since I read and loved The Ten Thousand Doors of January.

  2. Wow – these books would all make a great TBR. I need to read Fourth Wing. I had it out from the library but it was only a 2 week loan and then I decided I wanted my own copy so I returned it and now it’s being reprinted and hard to locate until that happens. Oh well, I’ll get a copy one day and, in the meantime, read a bunch of other books instead. I love the cover of Starling House. Hope you are having a good week.

I actually just got my copy of Fourth Wing yesterday from Amazon, it’s a 4th printing! But I love the shiny cover. And I’ve preordered the second book with the sprayed edges:-)

I’m glad I’m not alone, lol. But I guess the more you talk about a book, the better!

I’m sure she had already written the first two books when Fourth Wing was published. I’m glad the wait isn’t too long!

  3. I hope you enjoy Looking Glass Sound as much as I did, it really kept me guessing all the way through.
I’m looking forward to reading Starling House too.
All your November picks are new to me but I love all the covers so much check those out 😀

  4. It’s hard to believe half of 2023 is already over. I made a list of anticipated reads for the third quarter of 2023 which just went up today and just went all out because I couldn’t narrow it done even if I tried. So many good books in the second half of the year especially this summer!

This first half of 2023 went by fast! I think most of the books I want to read will come out in the second half of the year, which is typical.

  5. I’ll have to look up a few of these as they’re new to me. I definitely can’t wait for Starling House though. Once & Future Witches was my surprise favourite the year that it came out & I adored Doors Of January too so I’m endlessly excited to check this one out.
