Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
Not much going on here other than the usual. Oh, we had a thunder storm last week! I know a lot of you are probably going “who cares?” but we never get thunder and lightning here. It’s been years since I’ve seen lightning, and it was cool!
Upcoming reviews:
I managed to read two of my three projected novellas last week, so I’ll be posting reviews of Nothing But Blackened Teeth and Comfort Me With Apples, both of which I really enjoyed. I think I liked Comfort Me With Apples more, but one thing they have in common: they are both very weird. And Summer Sons, I just can’t seem to get this book off my “upcoming reviews” list. If I hadn’t put so much effort into it already, it would probably be a DNF for me. It just isn’t working very well, I’m sorry to say. I’ll try to get a review up this week, we’ll see.
Upcoming reads:
If I ever finish Summer Sons, I’m diving into Nightwatch on the Hinterlands next. After that, I’d love to read The Warrior Poet, which will be a nice change of pace.
Other posts:
On Tuesday, I’m doing a fun book tag called Creatures of the Night Book Tag, in celebration of spooky October! Wednesday I have three new cover reveals to share on Future Fiction, and the Friday Face-Off is “Favorite book of magic.”
In case you missed:
Here are my posts from last week:
Over-Booked – A Book Haul Post
From the Neck Up by Aliya Whiteley – Review 4.5 stars
Most Anticipated Books of 2021 – Fourth Quarter
A Spindle Splintered by Alix E. Harrow – Review 4/5 stars
So… you had a thunderstorm and it rained i’iwi? That’s… unusual for California to say the least;)
Ha ha, yes very unusual:-)
I can’t wait for your review of the Warrior Poet! It’s definitely on my TBR.
I’m excited to start it!
Oh that is a bummer about Summer Sons, the cover looks so cool!! That is a pretty bird!
I know, the cover is very cool:-)
Well we don’t have thunder storms here or rather rain with thunder and winds 🙂 Also that bird is gorgeous!
Thanks Sophie!
Look at that I’iwi? How do you even pronounce something like that? Glad to hear you enjoyed a little thunder and lightning. If I could send some of our thunderstorms out your way, I would! 🙂
I think it’s pronounced “ee ee vee.” And yes, please send some storms down here!
I hope your upcoming reads will be better for you than Summer Sons. I’ve not heard of The Warrior Poet before so I’ll definitely be looking forward to your review of that one. Nightwatch on the Hinterlands sounds like a perfect read for spooky season too.
I hope so too! I’m pushing through to the end of Summer Sons no matter what:-)
No thunder in years? That’s so interesting. It’s like when I hear people say they’ve never seen snow in their corner of the world hahah

Ha ha we’ve had snow here maybe twice in the last 20 years?
I like that we get that diversity here. Although it hasn’t rained much this year. And we get about 2 days a year with snow which melts pretty fast. I hope you find some new reads you enjoy more!

Thanks Anne!
I think I’d call Summer Sons a loss by now if it were me, but more power to you if you can get it reviewed! Definitely interested to hear your thoughts on it by this point. Also, I understand the storm thing, We barely get lightning storms!

I know some people hate storms, but I love them:-)
I read someone else’s review of Summer Sons and if I was you, I’d have DNFed it already. lol. I just don’t have the time or patience for books I’m not enjoying anymore. I hope maybe it wraps up better for you and makes it all worth it though. We had a couple thunderstorms this year, past few months, that I ended up losing power and internet for a while, but I still love them! We need rain bad here, hoping to get some tonight. Have a great week!

I should start DNFing more books, lol.
The lightning lit up the entire skyline. It was so pretty. I didn’t hear much thunder though, surprisingly. I was grateful for the little rain we got. I have mixed feelings about the cover of Comfort Me With Applies–do I like it or do I not? LOL It sounds like a good book though. I hope you enjoy your reading and have a great week, Tammy!
I finished off a bunch of novellas last week too, makes me feel so much more productive, lol!
That storm last week was so weird! I’m in the downhill stretch of Empire of the Vampire, should be done in the next few days!

I need to read Comfort Me With Apples very soon. We’re usually on the same page when it comes to slightly different (or weird) books so I’m guessing if you like it then so will I.
