Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
Happy Sunday, everyone! This was a pretty normal week for me, nothing really exciting to report. Except it’s still so hot here. Southern California isn’t really known for fall weather, but hey a girl can hope!
Upcoming reviews:
I’m hoping to get both these reviews up this week, although it was not a very productive reading week for me. I’ve been really tired at night and haven’t been able to stay up very late reading (the only time during the week I get to read), so it literally took me all week to get through The Body Scout, which was very good, by the way. As of writing this post, I’ve just started reading Human Tenderloin, but the few short stories I’ve read are super weird and creepy! I’m having a great time.
Upcoming reads:
I’m diving into The Bone Ship’s Wake this week! It’s a huge book and I may not get a review up next week, but I’ll try. On the side, I hope to dip into From the Neck Up, which is a short story collection and should be easy to read alongside the R.J. Barker behemoth, lol.
Other posts:
Not too much planned this week, as I’m still feeling the blog doldrums at the moment (when does that go away??). So look for Future Fiction on Wednesday and The Friday Face-Off, which is a book with “murder” in the title.
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
Light Chaser by Peter F. Hamilton & Gareth L. Powell – Review 4.5/5 stars
Mastermind by Andrew Mayne – Review 4/5 stars
My Heart is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones – Review 4/5 stars
I am super looking forward to your reviews this week. The heron photo is amazing!

Thanks! I love it too. I love that the heron is sort of frazzled looking, lol.
Love the heron. I’ve been really tired too, inching my way through Liar of Red Valley. Still anticipating your review of the Body Scout, though! And fingers crossed for snow next week!
Oh no “inching” doesn’t sound that promising. I need to get to The Liar of Red Valley soon! Wait snow?? Holy cow, snow is literally a dream for me.
Human Tenderloin has a super weird cover…lol.
It is weird, I’m still trying to figure out what’s going on, lol.
I am really interested to read your thoughts on Human Tenderloin, oh boy.

It’s really good so far, but the stories are very bleak so I’m reading it in bits and pieces:-)
It seems long, tired weeks have been going around… oh well, all things pass in time. Can’t wait to read your thoughts on The Body Scout. I’m glad I had the chance to read that one. That heron’s plumage looks a bit ruffled, like maybe it’s having a rough week, too! 🙂
I’m glad we both enjoyed The Body Scout!
Oh yes, I agree, that poor heron looks like he’s been through some tough times, lol.
Okay, the Human Tenderloin cover is creepy, let alone that title! I get the being tired. I used to have time at my old library job to do some blogging during the day. None at the new job, not to mention they’re so particular about what we do on our laptops and school wifi that I don’t want to get in trouble. Oh well. Hope you have a good week!

Yeah, it’s hard to cram all your reading/blogging after work and on the weekends!
I hear you on being tired. Between work being so busy and my son recently being diagnosed with epilepsy, being sleep deprived has become a way of life for me. Good for my reading since I’m awake so much, but then I’m too tired to blog about what I’m reading, lol.
Oh no, sorry to hear about your son, Suzanne:-( I hope things work out soon, I can only imagine how hard it must be.
I had the same reading problem this week. I fell into bed and slept. After my PT exercises of course. And I’m not excited about going back to the 90s again this week here either. I finally got time to read this morning and read the books straight through.

At least you found time to read:-)
Oooh, Bone Ships Wake! 😀 I have Whiteley’s short story collection on my TBR, too 🙂
September has WAY too many good books coming out:-)
I started My Heart is a Chainsaw today! I’m not sure how I feel yet about the hectic, steam of consciousness style narration so far, but it’s definitely interesting!
Exactly, that was one of the negatives for me, I got tired of her voice after a while. But overall I did end up loving it!
Well we got some sun here finally! So I am enjoying this late summer 🙂 Have a great week Tammy!
Oh yay! Enjoy your sunshine:-)
I hope you get a cooldown! Love the books this week. I’m hoping to get back on track with my SF reading this fall. 🙂

Human Tenderloin sounds really interesting, and that blurb from Stephen Graham Jones only makes me more interested, haha. I don’t think I’ve seen From the Neck Up around, but I am intrigued by the title and cover! I definitely see a few posts ofyours that I need to catch up on–I’ve been so behind lately! Hope you have a great week. 🙂
The Body Scout sounds really good. I am glad you enjoyed it! Another amazing photo by your husband. He’s so talented.
I hear you about being tired. It seems that I’m always falling behind with something, if I read a lot then I’m not blogging, if I’m blogging I’m not reading – gah!
Lynn 😀
