Buffy’s Corner 9/12/21 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D

Happy Sunday, everyone! This was a pretty normal week for me, nothing really exciting to report. Except it’s still so hot here. Southern California isn’t really known for fall weather, but hey a girl can hope!

Upcoming reviews:

I’m hoping to get both these reviews up this week, although it was not a very productive reading week for me. I’ve been really tired at night and haven’t been able to stay up very late reading (the only time during the week I get to read), so it literally took me all week to get through The Body Scout, which was very good, by the way. As of writing this post, I’ve just started reading Human Tenderloin, but the few short stories I’ve read are super weird and creepy! I’m having a great time.

Upcoming reads:

I’m diving into The Bone Ship’s Wake this week! It’s a huge book and I may not get a review up next week, but I’ll try. On the side, I hope to dip into From the Neck Up, which is a short story collection and should be easy to read alongside the R.J. Barker behemoth, lol.

Other posts:

Not too much planned this week, as I’m still feeling the blog doldrums at the moment (when does that go away??). So look for Future Fiction on Wednesday and The Friday Face-Off, which is a book with “murder” in the title.

In case you missed:

  1. Will

Love the heron. I’ve been really tired too, inching my way through Liar of Red Valley. Still anticipating your review of the Body Scout, though! And fingers crossed for snow next week!

    • Tammy

Oh no “inching” doesn’t sound that promising. I need to get to The Liar of Red Valley soon! Wait snow?? Holy cow, snow is literally a dream for me.

  2. It seems long, tired weeks have been going around… oh well, all things pass in time. Can’t wait to read your thoughts on The Body Scout. I’m glad I had the chance to read that one. That heron’s plumage looks a bit ruffled, like maybe it’s having a rough week, too! 🙂

  3. Okay, the Human Tenderloin cover is creepy, let alone that title! I get the being tired. I used to have time at my old library job to do some blogging during the day. None at the new job, not to mention they’re so particular about what we do on our laptops and school wifi that I don’t want to get in trouble. Oh well. Hope you have a good week!

  4. I hear you on being tired. Between work being so busy and my son recently being diagnosed with epilepsy, being sleep deprived has become a way of life for me. Good for my reading since I’m awake so much, but then I’m too tired to blog about what I’m reading, lol.

    • Tammy

Oh no, sorry to hear about your son, Suzanne:-( I hope things work out soon, I can only imagine how hard it must be.

    • Tammy

Exactly, that was one of the negatives for me, I got tired of her voice after a while. But overall I did end up loving it!

  5. Human Tenderloin sounds really interesting, and that blurb from Stephen Graham Jones only makes me more interested, haha. I don’t think I’ve seen From the Neck Up around, but I am intrigued by the title and cover! I definitely see a few posts ofyours that I need to catch up on–I’ve been so behind lately! Hope you have a great week. 🙂

  6. I hear you about being tired. It seems that I’m always falling behind with something, if I read a lot then I’m not blogging, if I’m blogging I’m not reading – gah!
