Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
It’s been an interesting week here. If you read last week’s Buffy’s Corner, I mentioned I was supposed to have eye surgery last Friday. But unfortunately, my husband decided to get a Covid test after he started having cold symptoms, and his test came back positive. It messed up the week for all of us, as you can imagine. He’s fine, by the way. We’re both fully vaccinated but the Delta variant is extremely contagious, and even vaccinated you can still get it, apparently. Luckily, from what we’ve experienced, symptoms are very mild. I went and got tested and mine was negative. However, I called my doctor to let them know what happened, and they decided to reschedule my surgery anyway, which is what I expected. So rather than have the surgery behind me, I still have it to look forward to, lol. In the meantime, it’s business as usual, so I’ll try to get back to a more regular posting schedule this week. To be honest, I’ve been pretty distracted and nervous about the surgery and I’ve barely been able to read or focus on much of anything.
Here are my blogging plans for the week:
Upcoming reviews:
I should be almost finished with The Exiled Fleet by the time this post goes up, and at the moment I’m having a blast with it! Hopefully my review will be up Monday. After that, I’ll be reading Wildwood Whispers, which is described as “a novel of hope, fate and folk magic.” It sounds like a nice change of pace.
Upcoming reads:
My next reads after that will probably be these three. I’m on the blog tour for Twenty Five to Life on the 26th, so I need to get cracking on this book soon. Velvet Was the Night and My Heart is a Chainsaw will most likely come next.
Other posts:
Wednesday I have three cool new covers to share on Future Fiction, and the Friday Face-Off is “Dressed to kill.”
In case you missed my posts from last week…
Over-Booked [143] – A Book Haul Post
Feral Creatures by Kira Jane Buxton – Review 5/5 stars
Getaway by Zoje Stage – Review 4/5 stars
Sorry to hear your surgery got rescheduled, but I’m glad that your husband is okay! Velvet Was the Night sounds good. I’m looking forward to your review of that one.

I hope it’s good, thanks Priscilla!
I’m so sorry to hear that your family was affected by COVID. I hope everyone recovers fully and you can get back to a normal schedule with life, Tammy! I can’t wait to read your reviews of The Exiled Fleet and Twenty-Five To Life! Hope you have a better week ahead!

We’re all fine, my husband wasn’t even really sick. It’s just frustrating that our lives had to come to a standstill while we all had tests. Thank you Hasini!
That is a bummer about your surgery, hope you get it done soon.
Thanks Stormi, I do want to get it over with…
Wow, you’ve had quite a week. Glad to hear everyone is doing ok and I hope that continues. It’ll be good to have both COVID and the eye surgery behind you. And given all that it’s no surprise you’ve been distracted in your reading, I would have been, too. But I look forward to whatever reviews/posts you have coming up. And despite mockingbirds being such a common bird around here I’ve always loved them, such personality and vocal range. Keep on keepin’ on, Tammy!
I agree, mockingbirds are one of my favorite birds to listen to:-)
So sorry to hear you had to reschedule the surgery. I hope your husband is doing well. My daughter and her boyfriend (both fully vaccinated) also just tested positive this past week after experiencing some congestion and mild symptoms. Makes me so thankful for the vaccines, because it could have been so much worse. Wishing you a good week ahead!
Yes, it’s a relief to be vaccinated, I can definitely deal with cold symptoms if I have to!
I’m so sorry you have to deal with the surgery being postponed and your husband with COVID. I hope you can relax a bit more this week and enjoy your reads! There are so many amazing releases the next month.

There really are!
Wow! Eye surgery. I hope it goes smoothly when it comes and hope your hubby will feel better. That Delta variant is such a tricky one.
Thanks Zezee! Yep, the Delta sucks…
Oh no! I hope your husband will recover soon. Reminds me that I saw someone on public transportation today where this guy was just holding the mask in front of his face, not even properly wearing it around the ears and stuff, just with his hand and removed it every so often. It made me crazy. People think the pandemic is over and with the variants it definitely isn’t. Wishing you all good vibes! ♥
Yeah, unfortunately Covid seems to be back with a vengeance. It’s definitely best to be vaccinated these days!
Sorry about your husband getting Covid! But like you said, at least he is vaccinated so it isn’t as bad. Also sorry you are now having to “look forward” again to your surgery. The waiting is the worst part I think sometimes. Worse than the actual surgery a lot of times. I love the cover of Wildwood Whispers, can’t wait to see what you think of it.

So far Wildwood Whispers is really good, and different from a lot of what I’ve been reading lately:-)
Oh nooo! I’m glad the symptoms are mild but getting Covid at all still sucks. Hope it passes quickly!
I am very much looking forward to both of these reviews and hooray for My Heart is a Chainsaw, I’m eager to read your thoughts on that one as well. 😀

I’m so excited to start My Heart is a Chainsaw, even though I’ve seen some mixed reviews:-)
Sorry your op got put off – that’s frustrating isn’t it. You’re probably relieved in some ways but then it’s still hanging there. Hopefully you get a new date soon.
Hope you have a good week in reading. I’m hoping to start the Silvia Moreno-Garcia book soon.

Oh that’s such a rough week! Hope you’re able to get your surgery sooner than later.

Me too, but I guess I’ll enjoy the reprieve a little:-)
I am glad your husband only has mild symptoms! It’s proof that the vaccine is worth it!
Exactly! I was very relieved:-)
Ugh, that sucks about your hubby. I hope he’s feeling okay. I’m looking forward to your review for Velvet Was the Night. I didn’t request a review copy of that one but still definitely want to read it at some point.

He’s fine, thanks Suzanne. I hope I can fit in Velvet was the Night:-)
I am late, but I am sorry to hear that your husband got the covid and that your surgery was rescheduled, but I am glad that you both are not feeling too much sick!!
