Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
I have to have eye surgery this Friday, and to be honest, I’m not feeling much like reading or blogging at the moment. I’m pretty nervous, and I cannot WAIT until it’s over. I plan on posting two reviews this week, but I can’t promise much about next week until I see what kind of recovery time I’m going to need. Ugh.
Upcoming reviews:
Tomorrow I’ll be posting my review of Getaway by Zoje Stage. I ultimately enjoyed this, even though I had some issues with the characters and parts of the plot. And I’m about halfway through Feral Creatures by Kira Jane Buxton, and I love being back in S.T.’s head! Such a fun story so far.
Upcoming reads:
I’m just listing two upcoming reads, since I just can’t seem to get to three books no matter how hard I try (unless I have a novella I can squeeze in). I can’t believe how many August 17th releases I have to read! I feel like half my August books are coming out on the same day, and there’s just no way to read them all in time. Here are two I’m anxious to get to: The Exiled Fleet and Wildwood Whispers.
Other posts:
I’m feeling so blah about my blog right now. I think I need a break, but I don’t want to fall behind with review books. The only other post this week will be Future Fiction on Wednesday, and I may skip The Friday Face-Off because I don’t know how to interpret the them this week: “Favorite holiday read.” I’m not sure what holiday we’re talking about, lol, so I may just skip it.
In case you missed…
My posts from last week:
Tidepool by Nicole Willson – Review 4/5 stars

Rovers by Richard Lange – Review 4.5/5 stars
Best of luck on the surgery and here’s hoping for quick and easy healing. I’ve had cataract surgery on both eyes and am sympathetic about wanting to get it the heck over with. With respect to your blogging, I hope you will be kind to yourself and do whatever you need to do to be comfortable, physically and mentally. Hang in and take care of yourself.
I guess I have cataract surgery in my future too, lol. Oh well, one at a time. Thank you Marian!
I’m in the middle of Tidepool. I’m enjoying it so far. Love the setting and the atmosphere.

I thought she did a great job with the atmosphere. Enjoy!
Sending you good vibes for your surgery, Tammy! When I feel nervous I don’t feel like reading or blogging either so I know the feeling.
Thanks Stephanie!
Oh good luck with the surgery! That does sound nerve-wracking but I’m sure it’ll go well. <3
As for feeling blah, take the break. I'm sure you'd encourage anybody else to do the same. You can still read the books or let yourself breathe for a moment. There's nothing worse than feeling the burnout and pushing through it and making it worse, believe me. You do what you need to.

Thanks Hannah, it’s so easy to tell other people to take a break but hard to take that advice, lol. Thank you Hannah!
Possie vibes for your surgery! Don’t feel bad if you want to give yourself a break on your blog. It’s better than burnout.
Have a great week!
Stormi
I agree, burn out is awful. Thanks Stormi:-)
Good luck with your surgery!
Thank you Laurie!
Sorry to hear about the eye surgery, I really hope that goes well and you recover quickly. I understand the nervous anxiety around something like that. And I know you’ve had mixed success with audiobooks, but during recovery from my recent eye injury I found audiobooks a very welcome way to continue enjoying stories. If you need (or even just want) to take a break I don’t see any problem with that. We take vacations from work, why not from blogging or reading? And on a very positive note, I started reading Hollow Kingdom this week. 🙂
I may just give audio a try:-) I’m so curious to hear what you think of Hollow Kingdom. Thanks for the good wishes!
I hope that everything goes smoothly with your surgery and that you have a speedy recovery. I can’t wait to read your review for Feral Creatures!
I should have my review up later this week, hopefully:-)
Best of luck with your eye surgery, Tammy! I hope your surgery and the recovery goes without a hitch! Also, I think it’s always good to take a break when things start feeling blah? That’s what I tell myself anyway. I usually limit my posting when blogging starting feeling blah for me. It helps sometimes and other times I need something completely different, like a day out or something haha! Hope you feel better, Tammy!

That hummingbird picture is cool! I am interested in Feral Creatures. It looks good! Eye surgery would make me nervous too. I hope it all goes well for you and you get past it quickly!

I will send all the positive vibes your way on Friday Tammy!!! Also that picture from your husband is once more fabulous!
Thank you Sophie!
Good luck with your eye surgery and sending prayers and well wishes your way. I’m about 60% into Feral Creatures myself and I have to admit, being in ST’s head again is like visiting with an old friend!
Thanks Barb, I appreciate it! I’m trying to finish Feral Creatures up tonight:-)
The last Zoje Stage I read was a TRIP. And I just ordered Tideppols… 🙂
Good luck with your surgery! I’m sure it will go very well.

Oh cool, thanks Greg!
Good luck on your eye surgery! I would be nervous in your shoes as well and I can see why that would put a damper on reading, but I know you’ll be just fine!
Thanks Steff! I can’t wait til it’s over, seriously:-)
I keep forgetting that The Exiled Fleet is so close to release date! I’m really curious about Wildwood Whispers as well. I’ve had an ARC of it, but somehow keep forgetting and haven’t seen it mentioned too much around. I hope you have a great reading week!
That August 17th date is sneaking up on us!
Hope you’re enjoying your reads this week (now that your op has been postponed.
Lynn 😀
Yes, I am!
