The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!
This week’s theme: “None of the jungle people like being disturbed.” – A cover with a forest or jungle.
I had few ideas for this week, but all of them only had two covers to choose from. So I’m doing a “head to head” this week, U.S. versus UK covers! My choice is The Girl in Red by Christina Henry, take a look:
U.S. (Berkley Books) edition – In this cover we clearly see the forest that plays a big part in this story. I actually love both covers, but there’s something about this one that really pulls me into the story. This is my favorite!
UK (Titan Books) edition – I really love this one too. The silhouette effect works really well, and I love the colors and the tree branches that frame the two figures.
They are amazing! Both of them!!
Though they both have the same elements, I prefer how they’re used in the US edition, from the trees to the pose of the figure and the effect of the wolf facing the viewer.
Both covers are fab, but I like the US version better because a figure walking on top of a giant wolf, now that’s cool!

They are both amazing covers. I’m wondering if there is a cultural component – but I prefer the UK cover. That howling wolf with the silhouette featured inside it is just stunning. A great choice for this week’s theme, Tammy:)).
I really like both of those!
I really like both, but I think the US is a touch more creative and sinister. In fact, once I read the book, it’s been really hard for me to let it go because I love that cover so much, Tammy!
Oooh I like this topic and the covers of the book you chose are amazing! So hard to choose a favorite but I think I like the US one the most.

Great choice. Both of these are awesome but I’m going with the first one. Have you seen the animated cover for it?

I chose the Titan cover when I used this book for another theme. I like them both though, great covers!
I find the Titan books cover much more balanced and properly uniform for some reason! Excellent pick! 😀

I’m really torn – I love the howling wolf but then I also love the red eyed wolf on the first cover. Too difficult to choose.

Love both of these covers, but I think I’d have to go with the first one!
