The Friday Face-Off: Forest/Jungle

The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!

This week’s theme: “None of the jungle people like being disturbed.” – A cover with a forest or jungle.

I had few ideas for this week, but all of them only had two covers to choose from. So I’m doing a “head to head” this week, U.S. versus UK covers! My choice is The Girl in Red by Christina Henry, take a look:

U.S. (Berkley Books) edition – In this cover we clearly see the forest that plays a big part in this story. I actually love both covers, but there’s something about this one that really pulls me into the story. This is my favorite!

UK (Titan Books) edition – I really love this one too. The silhouette effect works really well, and I love the colors and the tree branches that frame the two figures.

Both are really good covers! Do you have a favorite?

  1. Though they both have the same elements, I prefer how they’re used in the US edition, from the trees to the pose of the figure and the effect of the wolf facing the viewer.

  2. They are both amazing covers. I’m wondering if there is a cultural component – but I prefer the UK cover. That howling wolf with the silhouette featured inside it is just stunning. A great choice for this week’s theme, Tammy:)).
