Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer.
I hope everyone is having a good weekend, and if you’re in the U.S., you are probably enjoying a long one! My kids are visiting, the weather is literally perfect (high of 72), and I took Friday off work so it’s a four day weekend for me:-)
I’ve just watched the first episode of The Boroughs on Netflix, the new Duffer Bros. show (executive producers) and I’m loving it! It’s got an odd vibe that reminds me of something else, but I can’t figure out what. Is anyone else watching it?
I just kicked off my annual Summer of Horror event, and I’m thrilled to have six people signed up already! Huge thanks to Barb, Zezee, Lauren, Charlotte, Bree and Laurie for jumping on board:-) To participate, you don’t have to sign up (it’s a very low key event) but signing up allows me to make sure I visit your blog to check for Summer of Horror posts so I can share them. Every Sunday over the course of the summer I will highlight posts I’ve seen that week, right here on Buffy’s Corner. Click the Summer of Horror link below if you’re interested!
One more thing, the hubby is in South Africa on a photo safari at the moment, so I’m sharing one of his recent photos below. Have a great week!
Upcoming reads & reviews:
This week I’ll be posting reviews of Teddy Bears Never Die (I struggled with this at first but it ultimately won me over) and The Children (amazing!), and after that I’m picking up Startup Hell and Samantha Spük: Paranormal Wedding Planner. I’m keeping up my recent theme of reading books with colorful covers!
Other posts this week:
Top Ten Tuesday is Favorite Books by Favorite Authors, such a fun post to put together! There were quite a few cover reveals last week, so check back to see my favorites on Future Fiction; Friday I’ll post my May Wrap-Up (a few days early, yes); and Saturday I’ll share my May book haul. Busy week!
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
Summer of Horror 2026 – Kick Off Post!
Dead Weight by Hildur Knútsdóttir – Review – 3.5/5 stars
Twelve Speculative Fiction Books Set During the War
The Gatepost by Tim Weed – Review 4.5/5 stars

A four-day WE, uh? Don’t get used to it! ;D
I’m so happy to read that you loved The Children. Looking forward to your review!
Another excellent pic.
The Boroughs is one I’m thinking about seeing if my. mom wants to start watching with me since she has Netflix, lol. We’ve had good and not so good weather all week, but this weekend has been nice so far! I can’t wait to get to reading all your reviews once I’m done with work for a few weeks. Love that picture too! Have a great week!
Glad you’re having nice weather! Here on the east coast it’s been very rainy and soggy and cold (50s). 🙁
We are also having a mini-heatwave just now. Which is lovely on one hand, but a bit out of the blue as I was wearing winter-weight clothing only three days ago:)). It’s taking a bit of adjusting and we’ve rushed around the house and dug out all the fans… I’ve just bought Startup Hell after seeing it featured here – I love her writing. I hope you have a great week, Tammy:).
Nice weather and your kids – have a great holiday weekend. I look forward to your thoughts on Startup Hell as Robin just reviewed that one.
It’s a long weekend in the UK too — though I don’t get to take advantage, as a freelancer! We have really warm weather for May, a bit too warm for me, but at least it dries the laundry, haha.
Very curious about Teddy Bears Never Die; eager to see your thoughts!
Just finished creating my Summer of Horror TBR! Hope you have a great week.
Enjoy the kids and the weather Tammy! And Startup Hell is my next read!
It’s going to be a good summer! I’ve seen the preview for The Boroughs and it looks pretty good – maybe I’ll put it on my watchlist for Summer of Horror. 🙂
The wild dog pic is cool!
Wow, what a photo! How nice to have your kids with you for a four-day weekend! I’m glad to hear you’re liking The Boroughs — I have a feeling I’ll be checking it out this summer. Have a great week!
Enjoy your four day weekend with your children! I’m sure your hubby is having a fantastic time on his safari.
I haven’t heard of The Boroughs, I’ll have to take a look. I just finished my yearly binge of Grimm.
Thanks for sharing your week
The weather has cooled down a bit around here, also, which has been nice. Granted, there’s also been a lot of rain, but that’s ok. Glad to hear you’ve got the kids around. I hope Moses enjoys that safari! Beautiful wild dog photo.
Enjoy the weather! Sounds lovely in NH we are all over the place 36->86 in the past week I have whiplash.
Not a huge Horror reader but I have a few I am reading/ working on so I will sign up! Currently listening to King Sorrow by Joe Hill
Startup Hell looks like a lot of fun. Hope the rest of your weekend was great, too!
I want to watch The Boroughs, it looks like a good one. Summer of Horror sounds like fun, I just signed up. I’m on blog hiatus but once I’m back it’ll be fun to participate, thanks for hosting! What a great pic of the wild dog!
I just looked up The Boroughs and it sounds really fun, I’ll have to check it out! I’m excited about Summer of Horror and can’t wait to check everything out! Looking forward to all of your reviews this week, especially The Children. Your husband’s photos are incredible, it’s my dream to go on a safari one day! I hope you have a wonderful week 🙂
I hope you had a fantastic time with the family and a lovely long weekend.
I shall of course be signing up for some horror fun.
Lynn 😀
Good to know about Teddy Bears! I’ll know it give it a chance in case it doesn’t pull me in right away.
