Over-Booked [216] – March Book Haul

Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! There is a new blog hosting Stacking the Shelves, so do check out Reading Reality for more information!

March brought a nice pile of review books to my house, and I’m happy to say I’ve already read three of these and I’m currently reading a fourth. Here is what I received for review this month:

Books in the mail for review:

I’m starting off with some amazing books from the wonderful folks at Tor, thank you for all of these!

The Fake Divination Offense by Sara Raasch is the second book in her Magic and Romance series, and it sounds really good. Orok was a side character in The Entanglement of Rival Wizards, so this should be fun!

The Girl With a Thousand Faces by Sunyi Dean. I’ve been waiting forever for a new book by Dean, and I love the sound of this historical fantasy/horror set in Hong Kong.

Death’s Daughter by S.A. Barnes. Barnes is known for her space horror, so imagine my surprise when I heard she had written a romantasy! (which is about as far from space horror as you can get, lol).

Green City Wars by Adrian Tchaikovsky. This is a fantasy/mystery with animals as characters, and I couldn’t be more curious:-)

Obstetrix by Naomi Kritzer. This is a horror novella about an obstetrician who is kidnapped by a right wing cult, and it sounds both timely and horrifying.

I didn’t request Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman, but I’m so glad Tor sent me a copy. I’ve been meaning to read this highly praised medieval horror story for years:-)

And I’m very grateful for the next two beautiful finished copies, both of which I’ve read and reviewed: The Red Winter by Cameron Sullivan and Nowhere Burning by Catriona Ward.

Big thanks to Del Rey for this beautiful copy of The Geomagician by Jennifer Mandula. I am currently reading it and loving it!

With thanks to Kaye Publicity and Crooked Lane Books for It Came From Neverland by Cynthia Pelayo. I loved the last Pelayo book I read, and this dark Peter Pan retelling looks so good.

Also from Del Rey, I received The Temptation of Charlotte North by Camilla Bruce. I will always try Bruce’s books, even if they all don’t work for me. I’m curious about this, although the GR ratings are a bit on the low side.

Clay McLeod Chapman has been writing like a mad man, and here is yet another 2026 release of his: Devil Inside sounds very different from his usual horror: it’s a paranormal romcom! With thanks to Kaye Publicity and Mira for the review copy:-)

A Date With Death by Kelly Creagh wasn’t on my radar, but now I’m very excited to read it! Big thanks to Gallery Books for the review copy.

Finally, I received a copy of Crawlspace by Adam Christopher. I have already read it, and unfortunately it just wasn’t for me. But the review copy is appreciate, thank you Tor Nightfire:-D

Digital books for review:

I continue to be restrained on NetGalley! I only requested two books this month:-)

I’m very excited to read Something of a Calling by Zoje Stage. I’m a big fan of the author and I’ve read almost all her books.

Mudlark by Mary Helen Specht sounds amazing. It’s a dystopian that follows two timelines, I believe, and it’s literally screaming my name!

Big thanks to Blackstone Publishing and Ballantine Books for the review copies:-D

Are you planning to read any of these books?

  1. I am so excited for a new Sunyi Dean book! I’m trying to keep my expectations realistic because The Book Eaters was just perfect, but it’s tough to not get antsy for it to release!

  2. So exciting to get physical book mail (especially for free!) Definitely something I’d like to experience once. I look forward to hearing what you think about The Girl With a Hundred Faces and The Geomagician.

  3. I’m curious about several of these, especially The Geomagician! I need to get round to reading Sunyi Dean, too — technically I’ve started The Book Eaters, but I haven’t got far into it and keep getting distracted, oops.

It looks like a lovely haul, overall! I hope you have a good time with all the ones you haven’t already read!

I’m a little leery myself about the S.A. Barnes book, but it sounds like fun so we’ll see!

  4. I have got a copy of The Geomagician and am looking forward to getting to it – I haven’t got a copy of the Tchaikovsky book! I will need to see if I can get hold if it:). As ever, you’re the blogger with the coolest-looking books, Tammy.

I always count on you for reviews of Tchaikovsky’s books, hopefully you get a copy soon:-)

  5. That certainly is a nice pile of new books, so I can understand why you only requested two from the digital realm. 🙂

  6. It looks like you’ve had another incredible month book wise. So many fantastic sounding titles!! I cant wait to hear what you think of Thousand Faces, Between Two Fires and It Came From Neverland in particular although I hope you enjoy all of the ones still on your TBR.

Im glad to hear that The Geomagician is going better for you than it did for me.

And I’ll have to look up those two digital ones as both are new to me.

I will have my review of The Geomagician up later this week. I ended up enjoying it more than you, although I do agree on a lot of your frustrations.

  7. Some great looking and sounding books here. I have a few of these as well. I’m curious about It Came From Neverland. Please let me know if I might like it – you know I love Hook but can’t stand Peter so I’m always cautious.
