Buffy’s Corner 1/25/26 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer.

If you are in any of the states experiencing the snow/ice storms, I hope you’re doing ok! California gets a break for this one, since we’re out of the path. It’s still fairly cold here, but nothing like the Southern/Midwestern/Eastern states are experiencing. Stay warm and safe!

I started watching Manifest on Netflix, since Jeff Rake, who co-wrote Detour, wrote and directed it, and so far it’s pretty entertaining! There’s a good mystery going on, although I’m not completely sold on the actors yet. I like some of them, but not others. We shall see…

I hope everyone finds something good to read this week:-)

Upcoming reads & reviews:

Tomorrow I’m reviewing On Sundays She Picked Flowers. I’m still processing my emotions after reading this. It was beautiful, ugly, heartbreaking and unlike anything I’ve read before. Don’t miss my review! I needed a complete change for my next book, and I’m currently reading Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter, which is so much fun. I’d love to finish up my last January book this week as well, We Should Have Left Well Enough Alone. After that, I’m picking up Nightshade & Oak.

Other posts this week:

It’s a busy week on the blog! I’m participating in Top Ten Tuesday and sharing ten “new to me” authors I discovered in 2025; the cover reveals are coming in fast and furious, so check back on Wednesday’s Future Fiction to see a few; I’m sharing my January book haul on Friday; and Saturday is my January Reading Wrap-Up! Can you believe it’s almost February??

In case you missed:

  1. I started on Agnes Aubert recently too — I need to get back to it. I’m enjoying the Howl’s Moving Castle vibes. I should get to Nightshade & Oak as well. Definitely curious to see what you think of them!

  2. Athena @ OneReadingNurse

I wanted to read Agnes! By the time I got the notification for the library acquiring the book there were nine people in line for it already can’t wait to see your thoughts!

  3. I’m in the snowpocalypse – it started snowing about 10 hours ago and I’ve got at least 5″ so far. The weather forecast says that we’ll probably get between 12″-16″ total and that’s going through noon tomorrow. There’s some wind but not much wind but it’s coming from the east instead of the west.

I watched the first season of Manifest back when it was originally on NBC but decided I wasn’t interested enough to stick with it at the time. I just finished watching watch Dept. Q on Netflix and it’s a new favorite. I’m really glad it’s bern renewed for season 2. I’ve also been watching Miss Scarlet and All Creatures Great and Small on PBS Masterpiece since they’re both back for season 6 now and I love them both. I’ve also recently gotten into Psych since they’ve started airing it on getTV. I hadn’t seen it before but I’m already almost halfway through season 2.

  4. Enjoy your books! Great Badger pic as usual. The snow started around 6am here by us and is coming down steadily. It’s 7 degrees now and we’re expecting a foot of snow.

  5. I always love the pictures of Badger at the end of your Sunday posts. We got snow all day yesterday and it finally quit overnight. I think we got about 4 inches where I live? Maybe an inch or two more? And now the frigid temps! But it’s fine, I made sure to have food and of course I always have lots of books to keep me busy. Looking forward to your reviews coming up. Have a great week!

  6. Badger is stunning. We got not even an inch of snow but also freezing rain so it’s like a white rock on everything. We’ll get more tonight so staying home is the deal. But that’s our usual. Thanks for the update on Manifest.

  7. Glad to hear you’re having a bit of a break with the weather, especially given some of what you’ve gotten in the not so distant past. Yesterday was pretty darn cold around here, especially with the wind. We got a small amount of snow overnight and now it’s all sleet and freezing rain. Haven’t been out to shovel yet, hesitant to do that until the ice stops so I don’t expose pavement just to have it ice over. Not sure if that’ll end up a wise move, or a foolish one. 🙂

I am glad to know you are spared the snow storm and cold front Tammy! Also I got Nightshade and Oak this week!

  9. I’m aiming to start Agnes Aubert this week, if I can just get through my book group book first! I’m glad you’re enjoying Manifest. I hear you about some of the actors… but overall, I ended up totally hooked!

  10. It’s been snow here in Chicagoland since last night. I don’t think we were supposed to get this much snow. Glad it’s on a Sunday and I don’t have to go anywhere. I agree this month has passed quickly.
