Welcome to Future Fiction, my reimagining of the Waiting on Wednesday meme! There are so many amazing new books coming out, that I can no longer pick just one. My goal with Future Fiction is to share at least three new books each week, a combination of recent cover reveals and books that I’ve recently added to my TBR pile. I’m still going to be linking up with Wishful Endings/Can’t Wait Wednesday, and I also want to give a shout out to Jill at Breaking the Spine for starting the original Waiting on Wednesday meme. I hope you’ll find some new books to add to your TBR piles, and as always, I look forward to hearing what YOU’RE looking forward to:-D
Today I have three very different upcoming releases to share, take a look:

From the bestselling author of Station Eleven, Exit Party is Emily St. John Mandel’s new mind-bending epic: a story of crimes committed and loves lost across space and time.
2031. America is at war with itself, but for the first time in weeks there is some hope: the Republic of California has been declared, the curfew in Los Angeles is lifted, and everyone in the city is going to a party.
Ari, newly released from prison, arrives with her friend Gloria just as a fragile new era begins. But there are people at the party who shouldn’t be there. Something is very wrong . . .
Years later, living a different life in Paris, Ari remains haunted by that night. Whatever happened at the party fractured her sense of reality – and may hold the key to a very different world.
Exit Party is Emily St. John Mandel’s electrifying new novel about freedom and surveillance, art and survival, love and loss in a broken world.
Exit Party by Emily St. John Mandel. Releases in September 2026 from Knopf. If you know me at all, you know Emily St. John Mandel’s books are my very favorites, literally. I like that this blurb is pretty vague, and I’m hoping Exit Party has some crossover characters from her other books. If I could only read one more new release this year, this would be it.

Memento meets Dracula in this heart-thudding, unpredictable, and beautifully crafted novel of a man exposed for crimes he doesn’t remember committing, and the monsters that dwell at the heart of us all, from celebrated and critically acclaimed author Michael Wehunt.
One rainy night on a first date, Luke Oshel’s new crush never comes back from the restroom. But she leaves an old photograph under her napkin―Luke as a child, a dead body in the shadows of his bedroom, and a terrifying masked man. He has no recollection of this event.
Then more photos disrupt his life―Luke posing with murder victims, covered in blood―and he falls back into the deep paranoia and repressed memories he’s tried to leave behind. All the drugs and alcohol, therapy, and hypnosis sessions have never conquered his deepest fear―that he hasn’t escaped the hidden legacy of his father, who killed his victims by exsanguination before his own death. But now there is a new string of serial killings, and the evidence all points to Luke.
As his journey to uncover the truth unfolds in the North Georgia Appalachians, a threat arises that will risk everything he holds close, including his ex-wife and their young daughter. Now Luke must chase his father’s darkness through a centuries-old secret and learn what monsters truly are. And decide if he’s one of them.
Nightjars by Michael Wehunt. Releases in September 2026 from St. Martin’s Press. This sounds really creepy! I have only read a book of short stories by this author, but I enjoyed them a lot. This is definitely going on my TBR.

Aleese Lin’s delightful, spooky—or Spük-y?—contemporary romance debut is perfect for fans of Legends & Lattes and Netflix’s Wednesday.
Samantha Spük is your go-to wedding planner, be it for werewolf, vampire, or fae!
…even if that’s the last thing she would’ve imagined. Samantha “Sabby” Spük has spent her life trying to escape her family’s legacy of supernatural chaos. She’s finally graduated and landed a nice, normal 9–5 at a New York accounting firm. But then she gets the call: Grandma Rose is gone, and Sabby has been named executor of her (ahem, magically binding) will.
Now Sabby is stuck in her dreaded hometown of Salem, Massachusetts, taking on odd jobs—some very odd, like wedding planning for not-so-human locals—until she can sell the family home. At least this means a date with Hanry, the mysterious hottie Sabby meets in the neighborhood graveyard. With help from Hanry, a talking-head sidekick, and a manic pixie assistant, Sabby might pull these weddings off in time to salvage her accounting career…but is she ready to say goodbye to her paranormal one?
Samantha Spük: Paranormal Wedding Planner by Aleese Lin. Releases in June 2026 from Saga Press. First, you gotta love this absolutely bonkers cover! The story sounds like a lot of fun too:-)

I haven’t read anything by Emily St. John Mandel but I’m hoping to pick up sci fi more this year so hopefully 2026 will be the year. The last of these sounds fun too; different to my usual reads but good for when the mood for something lighter strikes. I hope you enjoy them all.
Thanks Charlotte. I think Emily St. John Mandel is simply brilliant.
I already have the Emily St John Mandel on pre-order; the Michael Wehunt novel sounds very creepy!
I’ll be preordering Exit Party as well:-)
All three books look so good, but Nightjars has really caught my eye! Definitely adding that to my TBR.
I have a good feeling about Nightjars!
They all look good – but the concept of a paranormal wedding planner sounds both funny and creepy. And I LOVE that cover! I’ll be keeping an eye out for this one. Thank you for sharing, Tammy:)).
That one is high on my “want to read” list, I mean that cover really makes you want to read it, right?
I’m really looking forward to all of these. Memento meets Dracula – I like that combo!
It does sound pretty awesome, I can’t wait.
I hope you enjoy them.
Me too!
Exit Party sounds amazing, and I love the cover!! I’ll read anything she writes, and I’m really excited for this one! Nightjars does sound really creepy — and I”m drawn to anything with a Dracula comparison. Great choices!
Thanks! Exit Party definitely has a lot to live up to, but I’m confident it’s going to be amazing.
I ran across Night Jars this week too and of course, it had me at Dracula. I also really need to get my hands on Samantha Spuk. Wonderful choices as always.
Thanks Barb! I hope we both get to read them.
I vote for the Paranormal Wedding planner Tammy!
It sounds really fun, right?
Woah, Exit Party. I’ve gone into another dimension. I’ve not even read the blurb. Just give it to me.
Lynn 😀
LOL right??? I need a copy so badly.
“Exit Party” could be the author’s most ambitious book yet!
I’m so excited for it!
Wow, these sound like three very different books! I hope you enjoy them all. Though I really hope Exit Party isn’t an accurate prediction of what’s to come. I’m not ready for civil war 5 years from now.
Let’s hope not!
The cover of Nightjars stood out to me the most and I’m loving the description of it. Gonna have to add it to my TBR too!
I love that cover too!
I haven’t heard of these before. Thanks for adding them to my radar!
She’s such an amazing writer!
It’s exciting to see Emily St. John Mandel write new stories ! I have… yet to even read one of her books though hahah !
Oh you should try her! I would read her books in order, they are connected by the characters.
Exit Party is definitely one of my most anticipated too, and I looove the cover! Nightjars absolutely sounds creepy, so I will probably need that one too! Thanks for putting it on my radar!
Paranormal Wedding Planner sounds like fun, but Nightjars sounds like something for sure. The cover is creepy, one of the creepiest ever! And even if it doesn’t sound like my cup of tea I am still super intrigued by it!!
