Buffy’s Corner 11/16/25 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer.

There’s a massive rain storm right now in Southern California, and it’s continuing through this coming week. I’m crossing my fingers it’s going to be over before I go on my trip (a week from today), otherwise we might change our plans. Sigh. But it’s a very good thing for the state, and we won’t have to worry about fires for the rest of the season. If you’re in the middle of it, please be careful! It’s really the perfect time to stay inside and read:-)

Upcoming reads & reviews:

I’ve been reading Outlaw Planet all week, so as far as quantity goes, it’s been a very slow reading week. Outlaw Planet is very good (as I write this post I’m still reading it), but it’s very dense and slow and it requires focused attention. Look for my review tomorrow! After that, I’m not sure. Enter panic mode! I thought November was going to be a more relaxed month for review books, but I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface. I have dipped into Turns of Fate, and I can tell I’m going to love it. It’s very long, though, which makes me hesitate a bit. I may pick up The Everlasting next, since I’ve read so many gushing reviews this past week. And You Watched in Silence is a November review book I’d love to get to.

Other posts this week:

I’m hoping to have some kind of SciFi Month list on Tuesday (clearly I’m having trouble planning things, since I don’t know what this non existent list is!); the cover reveals were out of control this week, so do stop by on Wednesday to check out Future Fiction. And Friday I will probably post another Friday Fives list.

In case you missed:

My posts from last week:

Friday Fives #scifimonth2025 – Strange New Worlds

Witches of Dubious Origin by Jenn McKinlay – Review 4/5 stars

Future Fiction #356

  1. I hope the storm won’t disrupt your trip!! It’s not a storm, but today is raining a lot here too. It should be done between today and tomorrow but it seems like temperatures will drop once the rain is done. We will see!!

  2. I hope everybody stays safe in the rain storm (the weather has taken a turn for the worse here as well, though not in my area) and your plans aren’t affected!

I have no qualms about very long books, but there’s no denying that some of them can be very demanding content-guise, and that can derail your reading plans…

I love that Badger pic! Jumpy boy LOL.

  3. Hopefully the rain storm won’t be too bad and without any flooding. That can be so scary!

That picture of Badger is so cute! Now I imagine him jumping on every table he sees. I wanna pet him!

  4. I saw on the news this morning about the rain out there, that’s crazy! But yeah, I guess it is good to help with the wildfires at least. I hope you’ll be able to go on your trip. I see all the good books in your posts and hope soon to be able to get around to check out your reviews. I always hate the days I do have time to comment because I don’t want to comment too much and get flagged as spam. Hope you have a good week!

  5. I finished Turns of Fate and I LOVE it. Creepy but not exactly horror? I’m reading Outlaw Planet but may move to audio if it’s too dense. I hope the rain doesn’t hurt your trip. We need the rain and even when forecast we don’t always get it. Go Badger!

  6. Rain is good but heavy storms can be exhausting. I hope everything works out for your trip. And don’t let November stress you out too much. You’ll get to what you get to, and it’s all good!

  7. I hope your travel plans work out! It’s been raining here in Northern California too, but nothing torrential (yet…). I’ll be eagerly awaiting your review of the M. R. Carey book. Sounds like your reading experience is similar to the sci-fi read I just did — excellent, but so dense and detailed that it requires full attention. I’ve been hearing good things about Turns of Fate!

  8. Cute pic of Badger! And I hate when I feel that panic about what book to read next so I have something to review for my next post. That’s sometimes when I end up skipping a post, or pushing them further apart. I don’t need bookish stress to add to all the other stresses in my life. ;D Happy reading. And I really hope the rains don’t disrupt your traveling plans.

Thanks! We used to have to rescue him when he was a puppy, but he’s so big now he doesn’t need it:-)

Thanks Nicky! I do get stressed out by long books, but some are so amazing that I’m glad I took the chance.

  9. Veros @ Dark Shelf of Wonders

Ah I hope the rain slows down before you have to go on your trip! I’m glad you got rain though it must bring some peace of mind not to have to worry about fires.

I am so happy to hear you’re enjoying Outlaw Planet!! I’m hoping to read that one next year 🙂 Also, Badger is GORGEOUS

  10. I think the rain should be finished by the end of this week, so fingers crossed your trips stays unscathed! It really has been a lot of rain, lol. I’m starting The Everlasting soon as well, hoping it’s as good as we’ve been hearing! Looking forward to all of your reviews–and catching up on your posts as I’m so behind again, haha. Have a great week!

  11. Hope your trip isn’t impacted by the storm. And, of course, stay safe.
Badger – what a character he has grown into.
    Lynn 😀
by the way, I loved the Everlasting, such a good read.

  12. I’m excited for the Anne Bishop book. Can’t wait for your thoughts. I ADORE that picture of Badger. Apollo and Zekey love to stand on top of the picnic table in our backyard. Apparently it is a dog thing?

    • Tammy

I think it must be! Badger’s breed (Malinois) is known for climbing, and he certainly does that a lot:-)

  13. I started Outlaw Planet and had to put it aside for now, so I totally understand what you mean by the book demanding your full attention. I will pick it up again son when my head is in a better place to pay attention, lol.
