Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer.
Happy November! We are currently having lovely weather in the 70s, so I can’t complain. I hope everyone had a nice Halloween! I bought a bunch of candy to donate to the businesses in our town, who all hand out candy on Halloween evening, instead of kids stumbling through the dark, steep mountain roads going house to house. Otherwise I had a normal week, which is good enough for me! I hope everyone reads something good this week:-)
Upcoming reads & reviews:
This week is a mix of November and left over October books. Tomorrow I’ll post my review of The Place Where The Buried Your Heart, and I’m pretty sure this will make my Top Five Books of 2025:-) On Thursday I am participating in the Angry Robot Blog Tour for The Sound of the Dark (super creepy and very well written!) After that, I think I’ll read The Devouring Light and The Everlasting, which has been getting excellent reviews.
Other posts this week:
It’s SciFi Month, and I have some SF lists I need to get cracking on! I may post one on Tuesday, we’ll see how motivated I am; Wednesday I have three very exciting cover reveals to share on Future Fiction; Friday begins the Friday Fives prompts, so I might do that as well.
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:

Slayers of Old by Jim C. Hines – Review 4.5/5 stars

Lately I am seeing The Everlasting everywhere! I am curious to see what you will think of it!!
Have a great week!!
Me too, I’ve seen it everywhere, and everyone seems to love it!
I’ve gotta know who won. Badger or the ring? 😛
Badger won, just like he always does;-)
What a smart and fun idea for the kids to trick or treat safely! I’m really excited for your reviews this week, I’ve also been hearing great things about The Everlasting so I’ve been very curious. I’m a bit behind, but hopefully starting The Place Where They Buried Your Heart soon, so I’m excited to hear how much you’ve enjoyed it. Hope you have a great week!
l can’t wait to hear what you think of Christina Henry’s book!
We’re having unusually warm weather here as well, though it “should” change soon. Yay for a quiet week! Looking forward to your sci-fi lists/posts. Like Stephanie above, I want to know who won the epic fight…;)
Badger ALWAYS wins;-)
Once again I’m so behind on commenting and you have so many book reviews I want to read! Gah! I love the idea of buying candy to donate to the businesses. I miss handing out candy. Wish sometimes I went to church so that if they did a Trunk or Treat I could participate. I might have to ask my brother if his church does that and I could maybe participate next year. Although maybe my mom’s new neighborhood will be one we can pass out candy next year. Hope you have a good week!
That will be fun to see what your mom’s new neighborhood does!
Yay Badger! That is great weather. I’m looking forward to SciFi Month.
The weather is fantastic!
That’s such a sensible way to organise Halloween!
Wishing you a wonderful reading week
Thank you Shelleyrae, you too!
Those temperatures sound fabulous! Am I right in thinking that they are incredibly mild for the time of year where you are? We are still experiencing temperatures in the high 50s during the day, which is certainly mild for us! Have a great week Tammy:).
Yes, it’s definitely milder than usual! And I am not complaining. The cold weather will show up soon, I’m sure.
Badger has very big teeth LOL And we didn’t have a single kid on Halloween! More candy for my son and husband 😉
That’s what used to happen to us at our old house, I’d buy a bunch of candy and no one would come:-)
Wishing you a great week! Sounds like your town has a very sensible approach for Halloween 🙂
Thanks Lisa! Yes, I do like the way we do Halloween, it’s very much tailored to kids, which is as it should be.
I have way too much candy left over and I’ve been doing a very poor job avoiding it or at least being sane about it. Grrrr….
LOL luckily I gave all my candy to our favorite businesses in town, so there’s no danger of eating leftovers!
Glad you had a nice Halloween. Your weather sounds lovely! I’m looking forward to hearing about The Everlasting!
Thanks Victoria:-) I’m very excited to start The Everlasting.
My money is on Badger! That ring is a goner. We only had three trick-or-treaters. Of course it was cold, rainy and windy and I think there are so many trunk or treats in our town most parents utilize them now. I’m excited for the Christina Henry book. I did get offered an arc but it was late so I passed. Then it ended up being my Aardvark book box pick this month. I was on the tour for The Sound of the Dark as well. I liked it and found it atmospheric but felt the middle drug out too much. And the claritin gave me Grape Pop and Xanax flashbacks from Final Girl by Riley Sager. Can’t wait to read your thoughts!
Surprisingly, the ring is holding up!
I have so much catch up to do too with Oct books. The Place Where The Buried Your Heart, The Sound of the Dark, and The Everlasting are still on the list!
Me too, I’m still reading October books and we’re already into the second week of November:-/
I’m currently reading The Everlasting and enjoying it very much. Hope you get a chance to pick it up.
Badger and the Ring – sounds like the start of a great series, a mash up of Wind in the Willows and LoTRs.
Lynn 😀
