Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer.
I didn’t do a Buffy’s Corner last week, and I think the one before that was deleted when I moved my blog back to Bluehost, so I feel like it’s been forever! In case you missed my personal drama, I tried to switch website hosts a couple of weeks ago, but my new host was unable to get my blog to connect with Jetpack. That’s the gist of it, and without Jetpack I didn’t even want to blog. So I made the tough decision to have my new host migrate my blog back to Bluehost. Sigh. Not the way I wanted things to go, but at least everything is up and running smoothly again. (at least as far as I’m aware)
During that time, every new post I created on the new host site disappeared when I migrated back, so I lost a couple of reviews and other posts as well (I did repost those reviews). I did a Top Ten Tuesday post that I loved, and I will recreate it at some point, maybe for a “freebie” week. October is usually one of my favorite blogging/reading months, but this year it wasn’t to be. I’m SO excited to turn over the calendar to November!! I hope everyone has a fantastic week and reads some good books:-)
Upcoming reads & reviews:
I hope to have three reviews up this week. I have already finished reading Extremity and Slayers of Old (both really good!) and I’m currently reading and loving The Place Where They Buried Your Heart. I’m also working on The Sound of the Dark for a blog tour stop on November 6th. It’s pretty long and a little slow, so I’m giving myself some time to finish it. After that? Not sure. I have a lot of leftover October books, but I’m eager to dive into November as well.
Other posts this week:
Tuesday is one of my favorite Top Ten Tuesdays of the year: Halloween Freebie! As usual, I’m sharing my annual post 26 Horror Books to Read in 2026, stop by and check it out! Cover reveals are out of control lately, so it’s just a matter of narrowing down three of them to feature on Future Fiction; I am opting to skip my October Wrap-Up post, due to October being such a frustrating blogging month, but I will be sharing my November What’s On My Plate on Saturday!
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
The Flesh King by Richard Kadrey – Review 3.5/5 stars
Crafting For Sinners by Jenny Kiefer – Review 4/5 stars
How To Fake a Haunting by Christa Carmen – Review 4/5 stars
Back In Business – But I’ve Gone Back in Time

Badger looks so nice! Glad your blog is back up and running.
Thank you!
Sorry about the blog problems! I hate my blog, but I’m afraid of messing with it too much. I hope you have a great week.
Oh no, it’s so hard to get excited about blogging when things aren’t working or you don’t like it. Have a great week!
It must have been a super-frustrating month…let’s hope for no more drama from now on! At least you lost very little and can/could easily recreate/copy what you lost. I have copies of all my posts, both in text and HTML version…not taking any chances LOL.
Hello Badger!
I always copy my final edited reviews to Goodreads, so it’s easy to pull those to recreate a post if I need to. Other posts don’t matter so much, I guess!
Ugh, I’m so sorry switching didn’t work for you when it has been so easy for me when I switched. But I get it, you want your blog to do what you need it to do, otherwise, why bother? Will be looking forward to when you get time to re-do those posts. And here is hoping November is better!

Thanks Lisa! For now things are working and I’m just enjoying blogging again:-)
I am really sorry it didn’t work out to switch as it made everything easier for me. I hope this next month is better. Yay Badger! Such a good boy.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Badger is always a good boy!
You know Tammy I thought about your Jetpack problem and if your host (or blog) doesn’t allow RSS feed you won’t be on the reader. So maybe that was why???? Anyway I am glad to see you back!
That makes sense Sophie! It was so weird, I ultimately think something on her site was blocking Jetpack, but what do I know, lol.
I love the cover of Slayers of Old even though it’s not a genre I gravitate to!
The cover is spot on, it sums up the story perfectly:-)
I’m sorry October was such a frustrating month for you. Technology just sucks sometimes! But I can feel that November will be so much better for you. I’ll participate in Nonfiction November but don’t feel as prepared as other years. Pray for me lol
LOL we will both get through November. I haven’t prepped at all for Sci Fi Month, so we’re both in the same boat:-)
You’ve had a horrible time of it. I know how much care you take over your blog posts – they are so approachable and intuitive, so it’s got to have been utterly miserable to have been so scuppered by all the technical issues you’ve been enduring. I hope November is a far smoother month!! And another fabulous pic of Badger:)). Have a great week, Tammy.
I appreciate your kind words, Sarah:-) I think November will be great, I’m looking forward to Sci Fi Month!
Hi Badger! I’m glad all your blogging woes are resolved, even if it’s not the outcome you were looking for. What a bummer… but at least you’re back up and running. Hope you have a great week!
Thanks Lisa!
Ugh, I’m sorry you had this much trouble with something that should have been able to go smoothly. Your October might not have been great, but Badger looks like he’s having a wonderful day/month.
Badger is always happy, since he’s the king of the house, lol:-)
Ooh no that’s so rough, I can’t imagine losing posts I did lol. I would be like yeah, I need a break now before I break my computer hahaha.
Slayers of Old and The Place Where They Buried Your Heart both look so good!
I’m going to have to check out your post about 26 books to read in 2026 and see if I’ve read any of them.
Hope you have a great rest of your October and a spooky Halloween!

Thanks Ash! I just finished The Place Where They Buried Your Heart and loved it:-)
Slayers of Old was sooooo good!! I am sorry for all the blogging problems! But I am glad you’re back online!! And Badger is such a beautiful boy!!
Fingers crossed things on the blog keep working! Thanks Susy:-)
Badger looks like such a happy dog! Hope you have a good week.
He’s very happy:-) Thank you, you too.
Ugh sorry about the transfer issue. I write all my posts in the iPad text app and keep them for a week or two just in case there is a glitch or something.
Slayers of Old sounds good, and is more my speed as a Halloween read.
Wishing you a great reading week
Thanks Shelleyrae! I think you would love Slayers of Old.
What a saga, with your blog. WordPress can be so annoying; mine stopped sending out emails with my posts for scheduled posts (but did fine for manual posts), and Jetpack’s team basically refused to fix it unless I turned everything off (breaking other stuff) to prove it wasn’t that… when we knew it wasn’t! Just wild.
I stopped getting emails from all the blogs I follow, what a pain! I did not enjoy wrestling with Jetpack while I went through my issues. I’m just hoping things work for a long time.
Very curious about How to Fake a Haunting. Always appreciate a dog photo.
I will never run out of dog photos, lol.
Hope things continue to go smoothly and sorry you had so many issues with the blog. I ADORE Badger – he’s so handsome!
Thank you Barb! He is a handsome fellow and such a good boy too.
Glad the technical side of blogging has settled down a bit. It always sucks when we get stuck in our least favorite aspect of something. It’s funny, I remember when younger how much I loved diving into technical computer issues, fine tuning, tweaking and troubleshooting, considering the computer stuff just as much fun as what it was used for. But these days I think of computers and software as tools I have to use and just want them to work so I can focus on what I really enjoy. 🙂
Exactly, it seems like in 2025 technology should just WORK. LOL.
Those blogging problems sounds like a nightmare – and losing posts! I can’t sympathise enough.
Hopefully all resolved now.
Lynn 😀
