Future Fiction #353 – Cover Reveals & Newly Discovered SFF Books

Welcome to Future Fiction, my reimagining of the Waiting on Wednesday meme! There are so many amazing new books coming out, that I can no longer pick just one. My goal with Future Fiction is to share at least three new books each week, a combination of recent cover reveals and books that I’ve recently added to my TBR pile. I’m still going to be linking up with Wishful Endings/Can’t Wait Wednesday, and I also want to give a shout out to Jill at Breaking the Spine for starting the original Waiting on Wednesday meme. I hope you’ll find some new books to add to your TBR piles, and as always, I look forward to hearing what YOU’RE looking forward to:-D

Today I have three new cover reveals to share, two fantasy books and an entry in a favorite series, take a look:

Welcome back to Assassins Anonymous, where family is everything and danger lurks around every corner.

Assassins Anonymous isn’t just a weekly recovery meeting for reformed killers—it’s also a family.

When Valencia receives troubling news that her brother has gone missing, she wants rush off to LA to find him. But she can’t bring her baby girl, Lucia.  Enter the other members of Assassins Anonymous—Mark, Astrid, and Booker, who offer to watch the toddler while she’s gone. After all, they’re three of the deadliest, most highly skilled people on the planet; what could go wrong?

Turns out, a lot. Shortly after Valencia leaves, Mark is summoned to the lair of Zmeya, a Russian mob boss calling in a deadly favor—she wants him to kill Astrid, his protege and friend. Mark refuses, but Zmeya reveals that she knows the identity of Mark’s ex-girlfriend . . . and his son. Either Astrid goes, or they do.

Meanwhile, Lucia spikes a dangerously high fever, and when Booker and Astrid take her to urgent care, they realize too late, that their fabricated identities are a real liability. Also, they don’t know Valencia’s last name, let alone Lucia’s. They can hardly blame the staff for calling the NYPD.

Suddenly the splintered group is on the run from both the Russian mob and the police, dodging bad guys and do-gooders while trying to find refuge in a city full of surveillance cameras—all without killing anyone. That is, until Zmeya captures Sara and Bennett, and Mark is ready to throw his sobriety out the window.

Three Hitmen and a Baby (Assassins Anonymous #3) by Rob Hart. Releases in June 2026 from G.P. Putnam’s Sons. I adore this series! And I’m excited there’s another installment on the horizon. It sounds like the crew is separated for most of the story, so that should be interesting! Read my reviews of Assassins Anonymous and The Medusa Protocol.

The Truman Show meets Game of Thrones in this epic tale of a studio-owned Fantasy world.

A land filled with magic and dragons and wizards and warriors.
Thousands of people live and work within its borders — fearful of their enemies and loyal to their king.

The classic fantasy world of The Malicarn has been brought to life on the big screen in a series of epic movies, almost entirely populated by characters in total belief that their sham fantasy lives are real.

A fan-favorite actor finds himself doubting the studio’s work, but the world of The Malicarn has an almost unstoppable momentum, and bringing freedom to a population who already believe themselves to be free won’t be as easy as he thinks.

All the world’s a stage.
Meet the players.

The Franchise by Thomas Elrod. Releases in May 2026 from Tor Books. This sounds crazy! I’m not 100% sold on it, but I’m definitely keeping it on my “watch” list.

Philip Marlowe meets Redwall in this superior adult noir tale, where all the characters are animals, fighting for survival in the city underneath the humans.

Down these mean streets a beast must walk…

Meet Skotch. Racoon, P.I.—Yours for a few buttons as long as the job isn’t too illegal, whatever that means.

A mouse has gone missing. Normally this wouldn’t raise any hackles, nor any alarms, but this mouse has something that everyone seems to want, though nobody appears particularly eager to say what that something is.

The fee is good—perhaps too goodCertainly not something Skotch can easily turn down.

If only Skotch can work out where the mouse is hiding, what he’s hiding, and why his secrets are upsetting a lot of animals caught up in the Green City wars.

Green City Wars by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Releases in June 2026 from Tor Books. You had me at “all the characters are animals”! This is the best cover ever (check out the Racoon PI), and this will be a must read for me.

  1. Three Hitmen and a Baby. Hehe, I love that title! I haven’t read the other books in the series but as always I’m looking forward to your review of it nontheless.

The Franchise does sound crazy (in a really interesting way)! Also pitching it as ‘The Truman Show meets Game of Thrones’ makes me instantly have high expectations for it.

Green City Wars also seems interesting to me, especially since the characters are all animals. And of course the P.I. is a racoon, somehow that just makes sense to me.

  2. Huh. I might have passed by Green City Wars if not for the author, but I’m at the point I’d at least try anything by Tchaikovsky.

  3. Oooo… another Adrian Tchaikovsky offering – which looks fascinating and fun:)). And I really like the premise of Three Assassins and a Baby, though I haven’t read anything else in the series. I also like the sound of The Franchise… As ever, you always get hold of the coolest books, Tammy:)).

Thanks Sarah! There have been so many new announcements and covers, sometimes it’s hard to narrow it down to three:-)

  4. Veros @ Dark Shelf of Wonder

You had me at Raccon P.I! lol I don’t even love noirs generally but put a raccoon in and I’m interested! Also I need to try Tchaikovsky. SO many of his books are on my tbr. The Franchise also sounds interesting, I do like the Truman Show movie, it’s basically the only thing I like Jim Carey in, lol.

Yep, Racoon PO got me too! I need to read more Tchaikovsky too, I think I’ve only read one of his novellas.

  5. These all sound fun! The Franchise has the potential to be awesome, so I’ll be keeping an eye on reviews for it.

Green City Wars, on the other hand, sounds amazing even without knowing anything more about it. That one’s going on my TBR list for sure!

  6. These three sound like a lot of fun! The one that intrigues me the most is the Tchaikovsky one, but The Franchise sounds interesting and I love the cover of the third AA book!!
    Thanks for sharing!!

  7. I hope you enjoy the new Assassins Anonymous book, I remember how much you loved the first two in the series. The middle book is a maybe for me too. It has potential but I’m not sure if it’ll be too weird for me. I’ll definitely be watching out for your review of the last book too. I’m somehow yet to try a book by Adrian Tchaikovsky.
