Buffy’s Corner 7/13/25 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer.

It was a hot week and there’s more coming this week too. Luckily it cools down at night here, so it’s not all bad.

Yesterday I met my kids at IKEA and we had fun shopping (mom always pays when we shop together, that’s the rule:-)), and of course we had meatballs for lunch.

Otherwise there isn’t a lot going on, which I’m actually grateful for! I hope everyone has a good week.

Upcoming reads & reviews:

This week I’ll be reviewing The Enchanted Greenhouse (loved it!) and It Was Her House First (currently reading it and loving it so far!). Next up will probably be The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy and Angel Down.

Other posts this week:

Tuesday I’m posting my Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag! There were a bunch of cover reveals this week, and I’ll share three of them on Future Fiction; and Friday I’ll have a Summer of Horror cover post, but I haven’t decided what to do yet.

Summer of Horror updates:

  1. Lauren Always Me

It’s been so hot here too and really muggy. It thunderstormed and poured down rain yesterday for about an hour and the temperature went down around 20 degrees to the low 70s. It was almost comfortable!

  2. Ooh, a new-to-me Cherie Priest book. 😮 Actually I think I’m pretty behind on reading her books, but definitely eager to hear what you think of It Was Her House First.

It’s been way too hot here, too, but due to cool down a bit for at least a few days — thank goodness. I long for air conditioning. Hope it’s not too unbearable where you are!

Oh no, sorry you don’t have A/C!! I’m loving Cherie Priest’s new book, it’s got a lot of interesting layers:-)

  3. I haven’t been to IKEA in ages. I’m the sort who always gets lost in there, so when I do visit I need to give myself a little extra time to find my way back out again. 🙂

    • Tammy

There was an IKEA five minutes from my old house so I spent a LOT of time there. And I learned all the secret corridors to get where you want to go without getting lost:-)

The best part of paying for my kids is they don’t expect it and offer to buy stuff themselves:-)

  4. Not only do we not have an IKEA in the state (state law, I assume), there’s a one-state IKEA-free buffer zone in place. I guess the moms around here don’t want to pay We DO have badgers—not as cute, though

  5. Sophie @BewareOfTheReader

I always pay for the kids too lol also it’s a good thing the weather is cooler at night Tammy!

    • Tammy

I agree! I’m over the heat but I feel like we still have a couple of bad months ahead…

  6. Haha – I’m loving the weather to be honest – although not as much when it’s really humid.
    Badger is a legend.
And of course you paid – it’s the unwritten rule.
    Lynn 😀

  7. Lovely pic of Badger with the mountain scenery – what a beautiful place! Thank goodness for cooler nights – at least it’s more comfortable to sleep. The heat is okay so long as you don’t have to do anything, otherwise it’s miserable. Glad the trip to IKEA went so well – and have a lovely peaceful week.

  8. Going to IKEA is always a treat. My kids treat it like a theme park because there is a game they play in Roblox based on an IKEA store complete with their products and show rooms lol. And of course we do the meatballs!

  9. Aww Badger looks like they’re loving their time outside. I’m sorry to hear it’s so humid by you, it’s been like that here lately too. Although sadly it seems to stay stuffy at night for us. Thanks so much for linking to so many of my posts. And I’ll keep an eye out for both of those reviews that you haven’t shared yet, I’ll be very curious to discover what you think of both.

  10. Sounds like the heat is coming my way, and while it was warm on my cruise, we were near beaches, so I didn’t mind as much! lol. Badger is cute as always! I’m behind again on reviews, and you’ve got several I can’t wait to read!
