Summer of Horror Cover Love- Horror Books With Red Covers

As you might imagine, red is a very popular cover color for horror books, and so it was very easy to come up with a bunch. I’m just limiting this to books I’ve read, and this is probably only a small portion of those, otherwise this list would go on forever! Let me know what red horror books you’d add to this list (or make your own!)

Once Was Willem by M.R. Carey

At Dark, I Become Loathsome by Eric LaRocca

Wake Up and Open Your Eyes by Clay McLeod Chapman

Tiny Threads by Lilliam Rivera

So Thirsty by Rachel Harrison

First Light by Liz Kerin

What Feasts At Night by T. Kingfisher

The September House by Carissa Orlando

Silver Nitrate by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw

Don’t Fear the Reaper by Stephen Graham Jones

And in case you missed the other horror colors, I’ll keep a running list here:

Horror Books With Yellow Covers

Horror Books With Pink Covers

  1. Red is probably one of the first colours I’d think of for horror 😀
I really need to read The September House, it sounds perfect for spooky season.

  2. Great covers, I’m not surprised to hear that there’s so many red ones out there as its such a fitting colour for the genre. I think my favourite is probably the one for Once Was Willem but I love Tun Threads, The Salt Grows Heavy & The September House too. I’ll admit two of the others kind of freak me out through

I need to read Once Was Willem soon! It makes me happy to see The September House on your list.

I literally could have found three times as many red covers, they are everywhere:-)

  4. Red certainly is a popular and good color for horror. And my favorite cover of the group, The September House, happens to be the only one of them I’ve “red” (yeah, I know, feel free to groan).

  5. Now, Red is pretty much the first colour I think of when I imagine horror covers! I literally finished Once Was Willem this morning and It’s easily going to be one of my best reads of the year, I loved it so much!!

  6. Great covers! I really want to read So Thirsty. And I did read September House last year, but didn’t love it. I wonder how many horror novels have greenish covers. Fun post. 😀

  7. Yassss I love red book covers! The first ones coming to mind with me is the Vampire Academy series. At least the editions I have are red. There are a few different ones. Thanks for sharing!

  8. It just works for horror books – I mean look at them all – they’re stunning.
I’ve read five of these and it does make me want to pick up the others.
    Lynn 😀
