What’s On My Plate – July 2025

July is packed with some of my favorite authors’ new releases, so I think it’s going to be a very fun reading month. I’m actually having trouble deciding what to read first! I guess there are worse problems to have:-) Here are the books I hope to read in July:

Angel Down by Daniel Kraus. Definitely one of my most highly anticipated books of the year, Angel Down has been getting great reviews, even though the formatting is unusual: the entire book is only one sentence! I’m so curious to see how that works for me.

The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. Moreno-Garcia is a must read author, and I’m excited to dive into this multigenerational horror/fantasy story.

The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy by Brigitte Knightley. I have seen some glowing reviews for this book—check out Rebecca’s 5 star review—so I can’t wait to start it!

A Resistance of Witches by Morgan Ryan. This is historical fantasy and takes place during WWII, and it also has great reviews!

Killer on the Road/The Babysitter Lives by Stephen Graham Jones. This “Saga double” contains two books. You turn it upside down and you can read the second book! Bonus: more Stephen Graham Jones:-)

The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst. This is a sequel to The Spellshop, which I adored. Or at least a companion novel, not sure. In any case, I can’t wait to revisit the world and characters.

It Was Her House First by Cherie Priest. Home renovation and a house haunted by a vengeful spirit, that sounds like an awesome combo!

Red Rabbit Ghost by Jen Julian. A young man returns to his home to investigate the death of his mother. I love the cover, and although the blurb is a little vague, I’m very curious.

An Ancient Witch’s Guide to Modern Dating by Cecilia Edward. This was originally an August release, but at some point that changed to June. I’m a bit behind but I’ll catch up soon.

The Library at Hellebore by Cassandra Khaw. I’m looking forward to Khaw’s new book, especially since it’s a dark academia story.

The Deepest Fake by Daniel Kalla. This is sort of out of my wheelhouse, but it sounds good. It’s a thriller revolving around the CEO of an AI company, so it could be very good.

We Won’t All Survive by Kate Alice Marshall. This is an author I enjoy a lot, and the story about a survivalist reality TV show sounds so interesting.

What books are you planning to read this month? Do we have any in common?

  1. The Bewitching and The Enchanted Greenhouse are both books I’d like to read. I like the look of The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy as well, so will look out for your review.
    Have a great July 😀

  2. Angel Down sounds very cool and I want to check out An Ancient Witch’s Guide to Modern Dating. Thanks for the shout out!

  3. Lauren Always Me

I’ve never seen a Saga Double before? That’s cool! Lots of these I’m looking forward to as well. Enjoy!

  4. That’s a lot of really good books to choose from! I want to read both We Won’t All Survive and The Ancient Witch’s Guide to Modern Dating. 😀

  5. Sophie @BewareOfTheReader

We Won’t All Survive and the Enchanted Greenhouse are on my TBR as well Tammy!

  6. You have so many books waiting for you!!
I know I have already said this (I think I’ll comment the same thing every time that book is mentioned! Ooops ;P) but I need The Enchanted Grennhouse and I need it know!! *_*
And I am really curious about The Library At Hellebore, it sounds not like the perfect fit for me, but I think we could work together all the same!
And I hope you will have more luck with The Irresistible Urge To Fall For Your Enemy!!

  7. It looks like you have some great books coming up. I’ll be very curious to see what you think of The Bewitching and Irresistible Urge in particular. Although the format of the first one that you mentioned certainly sounds different and I’m curious to discover more about Hellebore. I’m finally reading The Spellshop at the moment and loved the start. I hope you enjoy the sequel/companion too.

Thanks Charlotte! I’m currently reading The Library at Hellebore, and it’s very strange, lol. Not what I expected, but I’m loving it.

  8. I have a few of these on my shelf – I already read The Bewitching and enjoyed it. It’s not a particularly fast paced book but it’s told through three povs which I really enjoyed and there’s a mystery at the core that just intrigued me very much.
    Lynn 😀

I can’t wait to start it, and thanks for the heads up that it’s more on the slow side.
