Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer.
Happy Father’s Day to the dads out there! Today’s Badger photo was taken during a playdate with Badger’s friend Rosebud. Although Rosebud doesn’t look very happy, lol.
Life here is pretty busy and the weather is hot, but otherwise things are good. My exciting news is that we saw baby bird beaks peeking up in the nest on our porch! We still can’t really see anything, but I’m so glad the eggs hatched. Badger is doing his part by chasing away the squirrels, who I’ve heard will eat the babies if they get a chance.
I hope everyone has a great week and reads some good books:-)
Upcoming reads & reviews:
I picked up My Ex, the Antichrist on a whim last week, even though it’s not out until July, and I’m so glad I did. I’m posting my review tomorrow, so stop by to see just how much I loved it:-) I got a very last minute approval on NetGalley for Sounds Like Love, which I had just about given up on, and I might squeeze it in next, since it’s completely different from Craig DiLouie’s good versus evil headbanger of a story. I also received a copy of You’ve Awoken Her, which comes out this week, and I plan to read it soon. And yes, I’ve had The Palace of Illusions in my queue for a few weeks now, and it’s coming up soon.
Other posts this week:
I was inspired by My Ex, the Antichrist to put together a list of music-centric horror novels, so stop by Tuesday to see what I’ve picked; Wednesday is Future Fiction and I have three new covers to share; and Friday I’ll have a Summer of Horror cover theme to share. And speaking of Summer of Horror cover themes, please check out my friend Barb’s tentacle themed cover love! Thank you for participating:-)
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
The Grimoire Grammar School Parent Teacher Association by Caitlin Rozakis – Review 4/5 stars
18 Upcoming Queer Horror Books for June Pride Month
The Medusa Protocol by Rob Hart – Review 4.5/5 stars

Ooh, My Ex, The Antichrist sounds like one my wife might like, I’ll keep an eye out for the review!
The Palace of Illusions looks pretty tempting, for me; I’ll be interested to see what you think.
Hope you have a good week!
Thank you! I’m hoping to get to The Palace of Illusions soon.
Oh my goshhhhh! Badger and Rosebud look so adorable together. I used to have a frenchie who passed away too soon and she still has my heart. * sobbing *
It’s a cute photo, right? I remember your Frenchie, I’ve always thought they were so precious:-)
Love Badger and Rosebud. The photo makes me laugh. We have some neighbor dogs we like seeing Clover and Maggie. Both are much bigger than Lulu and I always talk to them telling them what good girls they are. Clover definitely wants to play. Maggie is old and just friendly. My daughter pointed out that Lulu says They are your friends not mine. Lulu’s kind of scared of them. We have Marley with us this week and she doesn’t know them but she’s their size and wanted to bark at them but I told Marley they are our friends.

Badger loves little dogs but they don’t always love him, lol.
Squirrels will eat baby birds if they get the chance?? Awww. 🙁 Good job, Badger, for doing your part! I feel you on the “life is busy” front…my concentration has been shot lately, but I manage 40-ish pages a night or so, currently with THE NIGHTSHADE GOD.
I am trying to read 75-80 pages a night during the work week, which is tough, so I get most of my reading done on the weekend.
Ah, Badger and Rosebud are so cute together! And I didn’t know that about squirrels! Now I like them less! I know the Ashley Poston book will be good, I just had too many things lined up to try to get the e-galley this time. I’ll be eager to see what you think of it. Hope you have a good week!

Squirrels definitely have some bad qualities, lol. Although I do love them. I hope you have a good week as well!
Badger & Rosebud!!!!! How many baby beaks do you have?
We have four baby birds, and my husband got a fantastic photo that I’ll share next week:-)
That does look like a bit of a standoff between Badger and Rosebud. 🙂
Rosebud is a little scared of Badger, so that was probably their first and last playdate, lol.
Looking forward to your review off the Craig DiLouie book! I’ve loved a few of his books, so I’m glad to hear this one was a hit! I also just got a last-minute ARC for Sounds Like Love — might have to wait a couple of weeks before I can squeeze it into my reading schedule 🙂
I guess the publisher forgot to approve us earlier, lol. I am halfway through it and it’s a lot of fun!
That photo is adorable 😀
I had no idea squirrels would do that, nature is definitely not always nice.
Hope you enjoy the new Ashley Poston, it’s on my TBR along with her other books after I enjoyed A Novel Love Story so much 😀
I’m already halfway through the Ashley Poston and I’m enjoying it!
I like the look of the Ashley Poston book – and Palace of Illusions has a fab cover. That pic of Badger and Rosebud is lovely, though she’s clearly a tad daunted – but isn’t he a stunning looking dog???
Thank you Sarah! Badger gets a lot of attention for sure:-)
I’m not surprised – he is such a handsome dog!
No Rosebud does not look pleased. But both are adorable. I got a last minute approval for the Poston book as well. I’ve loved everything I’ve read by her so I hope I do this one as well. I loved doing the tentacle covers and hope to do another topic this Friday. I just reviewed You’ve Awoken Her after devouring it over the weekend. I definitely enjoyed it.
I just finished the Poston book and it was really good! And I just started You’ve Awoken Her last night and loving it so far:-)
Ahaha I love that picture of Badger and Rosebud! baby birds are so cute, it seems like they have a nest in a great spot! I dread spring because for some reason birds keep making their next in the worst spot in my building where the babies keep falling out of the nest (I keep seeing them on the ground as soon as I exit my building and wonder why the birds haven’t learned to make their nest elsewhere since this is not the first year )
Oh I’m gonna need to go find out more about summer of horror.
The whole bird nest thing is very stressful! I’ll be glad when the babies finally leave the next in one piece:-)
I really enjoyed My Ex the Antichrist too. Picked it up on a whim to get started early on a July release to take my time, but ended up finishing in a day lol. It was just so addictive.
I’m still trying to get over the satanic baby bird eating squirrel ‘thing’. I thought they were cute little critters that collected acorns! What next – vampire rabbits I suppose.
Lynn 😀
