Buffy’s Corner 6/1/25 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer and Reading Reality’s Stacking the Shelves.

My Badger photo today is two photos, showing Badger in a club chair when he was a puppy two years ago, and a recent photo taken a couple of months ago. It’s crazy how much he’s grown!

Life is good but busy. The weather is getting hotter but that’s OK. Our maple tree is exploding! I hope everyone has good books to read this week:-)

Upcoming reads & reviews:

I hope to get two reviews up later this week. First up, I’m currently reading and absolutely loving The Afterlife Project, a very unique post apocalyptic story unlike anything I’ve read before. My review will be up Thursday. After that, I need to switch gears to something lighter, so I’ll probably read The Grimoire Grammar School Parent Teacher Association next. Then I’ll most likely dive into my most anticipated book of the month, The Medusa Protocol. And then I do need to polish off a few Orbit ARCs this month, and I think I’ll start with The Palace of Illusions.

Other posts this week:

It’s a busy week, transitioning to the new month! Tomorrow I’ll post my reading plans for June on What’s On My Plate; Tuesday I’m kicking off my summer event Summer of Horror, and it will be the third year I’ve done this. Participation is welcome and encouraged if you love horror! And Wednesday is Future Fiction as usual.

In case you missed:

  1. Roberta R.

One year and a half, and Badger has grown almost bigger than the chair ;D.

It sounds like your week was uneventful but nice, and sometimes it’s all you can hope for…

  2. Wow it can’t be 2 years, well a year and a half but how he has grown. Thanks for sharing the Badger photos. I’ll be interested to read your thoughts on The Afterlife Project as I enjoy some dystopian reads.

He grew so fast! And we were surprised, when we adopted him they said he’d be about 35 pounds, lol. He’s 100 lbs right now.

  3. Summer of Horror??? Oh man…why am I just now hearing about this??? I might have to tweak my summer reading plans! lol And what is Future Fiction? And yes I catch your Sunday Post every week so I don’t know why this is the first time my brain is registering these two things.

Love the Then vs Now pics of Mr. Badger! So cute!!!

  4. Oooh I’ve had my eye on The Palace of Illusions so I’m looking forward to your review of it.

And nooo stopppp Badger has gotten so big. The difference of those pictures! My Cleo just turned two on May 23 and I can’t believe how big she is now compared to her puppy pictures. * sobs *

  5. I am so intrigued by The Afterlife Project and I’m really looking forward to your review! I’m actually excited to read your reviews for all of your upcoming reviews, haha. I read Caitlin Rozakis’ previous release and enjoyed the humor, so I’m curious about this new one, it sounds really fun. I’m currently reading The Palace of Illusions and am liking it so far! Though feels a bit weird to read about Christmas in the hotter weather, lol.

And Badger is honestly just the cutest–it really is crazy how much bigger he’s gotten! Looks like he’s maintained the same adorable face, though 🙂

Thanks Jordan! Badger is a sweetie. I’m very curious to compare notes on Palace of Illusions. Hopefully I’ll read it soon.

  6. Mr. Badger is so handsome looking. Sometimes I miss the puppy stages so much. Others, well, considering Zekey is still wild and crazy and boxers don’t grow out of puppy stages until around 4, I don’t. I can’t wait for all your Summer of Horror posts!

Thanks Barb! Badger is very much still a puppy too. He destroys all his tows, and I wonder if he’ll ever grow out of it:-)

I love side by side photos of the dog, I have a few like this in different locations.
