May 2025 Reading Wrap-Up

May was the month of long fantasy books for me, so I didn’t read and review as many books as I usually do. It was also the month of fantasy, since more than half my books were in that genre. I also find it amusing that both my favorite and least favorite books of the month are both romantasy! Here are the books I read this month, with links to my reviews:

Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry

Another Fine Mess by Lindey Ryan

We Live Here Now by Sarah Pinborough

A Spell For Change by Nicole Jarvis

Harmattan Season by Tochi Onyebuchi

Overgrowth by Mira Grant

Behooved by M. Stevenson

I also wanted to give a shout out to the Wyrd & Wonder hosts: Imyril from There’s Always Room for One More; Annemieke from A Dance With Books; Ariana from The Book Nook; Jorie from Jorie Loves a Story; Lisa from Dear Geek Place. I managed to read four fantasy books this month, and I posted a couple of “extras” as well. It was a fun time, even if I didn’t participate as much as I wanted to.

I haven’t listed my top posts and reviews of the month for a long time, so I thought I’d resurrect that again. I always find it interesting to see which reviews are popular during the month, and often it’s the older reviews that get the most hits. Here are my top three for the month of May:

Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry

Filthy Rich Fae by Geneva Lee (because the sequel just came out)

Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke by Eric LaRocca (because he’s super popular!)

  1. I keep seeing such good reviews for Shield of Sparrows that I really need to read it myself.
I love that cover for Another Fine Mess, it looks fun and strange at the same time.
Looks like May has been another good reading month, hope June is great too 😀

  2. Congratulations Tammy! I mean, it’s a start but… thing is, are any of these really all that long? 😉

LOL maybe not long for you, but it’s all relative right? Anything over 450 pages is “long.”

  3. Great wrap-up, Tammy! Looks like you had a great reading month with good ratings. I had no idea the sequel to Filthy Rich Fae has come out in May. Sometimes I’m so behind on knowing releases. But of course I have to read it now! 😀

  4. It looks like you had a great May reading month:)). I’ve just started listening to Shield of Sparrows and am thoroughly enjoying it – thank you for the recommendation.

  5. I am shooketh that we have no books in common this month! I really want to read Harmattan Season and We Live Here Now, so glad to see those at the top of your list! My favorite would probably be a tie between What Happens in Amsterdam and Esperance!
