Who doesn’t love mermaids? There’s something about a book cover with a mermaid that makes me happy, even if the mermaids are scary and dangerous. Today I’m showcasing ten books about mermaids (some real, some fake), most of which I’ve read. Even though Wyrd & Wonder is a fantasy event, you’ll see a couple of horrific mermaids on this list. I mean, do you expect anything less from me? Take a look, and let me know what mermaid books you’d add:

I haven’t read any of these but there are a couple I’m eager to get to. Most notably All The Murmuring Bones, Upon A Starlit Tide and The Mermaid. All three are by authors I’ve been meaning to check out for a while. As to others I want to try The Surface Breaks by Louise O’Neill as I’ve enjoyed a few of her books before.
I think you would love All the Murmuring Bones:-)
I love mermaids on covers! 😀 Out of the ones you featured I’ve only read The Mermaid by Christina Henry, which was really good! Upon a Starlit Tide is on my TBR.
The Mermaid was really good! And I need to check out Upon a Starlit Tide, just because of the cover:-)
I’ve been eyeing Upon A Starlit Tide! Thanks for sharing!
I love the cover:-)
I have read none of these. I always wanted to read the Vicious Deep series by Zoraida Cordova and she has some others about Mermaids I think.
Anne – Books of My Heart
I heard good things about The Vicious deep too.
Upon A Starlit Tide has such a pretty cover.
I haven’t read Rolling in the Deep but I do remember really enjoying Into the Drowning Deep 😀
Rolling in the Deep is really good too. I think it’s actually a prequel to Into the Drowning Deep.
I haven’t read any of these, but I have heard of a couple. My favorite mermaid story is “Mer” by Patricia A McKillip (which can be found in Dreams of Distant Shores), about a spirit from the sea who just wants a nap but gets pulled into local shenanigans instead. Thanks for the list and happy reading!
That story sounds good, I’ll have to look it up!
I am not a fan of mermaids so I haven’t read any of these, but all the covers are so beautiful!!
I like the way the covers look together:-)
They all look lovely, I’m surprised I’ve only read two – but they were so good. The AG Slatter and Alice Hoffman (Museum of Extraordinary Things).
Lynn 😀
Some awesome looking covers!
