Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer and Reading Reality’s Stacking the Shelves.
The weather is gorgeous and it’s the weekend, so I’m pretty happy right now:-) Not much to report, except I made a quick trip yesterday to visit my parents, and of course Badger went along. Otherwise, work is still busy, and I can’t believe it’s May already…
This week I’m adding my weekly book haul to this post, so let me know if you like this change or not. I like seeing other bloggers share their hauls this way so I wanted to try it out.
Have a good week, everyone!
Upcoming reads & reviews:
I flew through Another Fine Mess this week, it was a ton of fun. Look for my review tomorrow. I’m currently reading Overgrowth and really enjoying it so far! It’s an interesting, character focused take on an alien invasion, and I hope to have a review up later this week. After that I’d like to switch gears and read a thriller, so I’ll probably tackle We Live Here Now next. And I have a bunch of May 6th releases on my plate, and obviously I won’t be able to read them all on time, but A Spell For Change is calling to me.
Other posts this week:
I’m thinking of posting a Wyrd & Wonder tag or list for Tuesday, we’ll see if I can pull something together; Wednesday is Future Fiction and I will probably focus on upcoming fantasy releases this week. Otherwise I’m not really sure what else I’ll post this week, stand by!
Over-Booked:

I received two books for review and two exciting preorders! First, big thanks to Saga Press for an ARC of An Ancient Witch’s Guide to Modern Dating by Cecilia Edward. A witch from the 17th century winds up in modern times after a spell goes awry. This sounds like a light, cozy fantasy, and after some rather heavy books I’m looking forward to it.
I also received Dead & Breakfast by Kat Hillis & Rosiee Thor, which I recently featured on Future Fiction. Another lighthearted fantasy, should be fun! Thank you to Berkley for the review copy.
My purchases this week include this beautiful paperback release of Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt, check out those sprayed edges! And a signed copy of The Staircase in the Woods by Chuck Wendig, I’ve read and reviewed both books and loved them:-)
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
Top Ten Tuesday: Books With the Word “House” in the Title
The Staircase in the Woods by Chuck Wendig – Review 4/5 stars

What a gorgeous copy of Remarkably Bright Creatures. I don’t think I’d want to read that in case I damaged the spine/pages/cover 😀 It’s a book I do want to read at some point though.
Just based on the cover Another Fine Mess looks fun so I’ll look out for your review.
Have a great week 😀
Luckily I have a hard copy of Remarkably Bright Creatures that I’ve already read so the paperback is just to “have.” 🙂
An Ancient Witch’s Guide to Modern Dating sounds like such a fun read. Looking forward to your thoughts about it! 😀
It does sound fun, and different from what I usually read:-)
Glad to hear you’re enjoying Overgrowth! Looking forward to your review. And one can never have too many Badger pics ;D.
Luckily my husband takes pictures of Badger all the time:-)
Great haul! Love the pic of Badger! 🙂
Have a great week and happy reading!
Stormi
Thanks Stormi! You too.
Badger pictures are such fun! You’ve got some great books. Overgrowth is one I really want to read. Need to get my hands on it. I’m hoping to start having time to get around to other blogs and read reviews again once my weekend house guest is gone and with Dora starting to slowly get better. Have a good week!

Thanks Lisa! Overgrowth is really good. Have a great week!
Overgrowth appeals to me a lot with the alien invasion thing. It was one I seriously considered requesting, but once again decided not to because I’m behind on other ARCs. Glad to see you’re enjoying it & I’ll keep an eye out for your review.
Overgrowth is not what I expected at all, but it’s really good:-)
Badger! I love seeing him. I like having your new books in your Sunday post. I do it that way also.
Thanks Anne! I think it’s easier to show new books each week instead of all at once at the end of the month.
I love seeing Badger – he is so darn cute. I like you showing your new books here. Of course, it’s what I do as well so maybe I just am used to that style. I still haven’t read Remarkably Bright Creatures but is it bad that I want that edition? (running off to try to find a copy)
Thanks Barb! And yes, buy the paperback of Remarkably Bright Creatures, it’s so pretty in person, and I think you would love the story.
I can’t believe it’s May either. It’s raining here today. I am enjoying the sound of it coming down. I am reading and enjoying Another Fine Mess right now. 🙂 I am glad to hear you liked it! A Spell for Change does sound good. I hope you are enjoying your current reads!
Badger is the cutest!! *_*
And this edition of Remarkably Bright Creatures has amazing edges!!! *_*
I am glad that you had such great weather Tammy!
I like those sprayed edges on Remarkably Bright Creatures. That was a fun read.
I like the addition of the book haul to weekly posts, less overwhelming that way to view all your new books!
I’ve been meaning to read Nicole Jarvis for a while since so many of her books sound great, I had not heard she had a new one coming out though! And An Ancient Witch’s Guide also sounds fun! What a fun haul!
Your book haul being included is a great idea. Who doesn’t love looking at more books!
I’m really looking forward to the Pinborough.
Happy reading.
Love Badger.
Lynn 😀
