Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
A couple of mountainy things to report this week. I’m writing this post on Saturday, and we got a surprise snow storm today! In fact, it’s currently snowing and supposed to snow until about 9 tonight. Crazy. It’s really cold and windy too. I guess this is winter’s last blast before it starts to get really hot.
The other thing that happened this week is that Edison agreed to cut down a 90 ft. dead pine tree on our property. They are very careful about keeping electrical wires clear up here, due to the threat of fires. This beast had to go! It was a two day ordeal, and I’m so glad we didn’t have to pay for it. I’ve heard it costs about $7K to have one of these cut down.
I hope everyone has a great week and reads some good books too!

Upcoming reads & reviews:
I went off my schedule last week and picked up The Staircase in the Woods, which was really good. Look for a review tomorrow. I’m still reading A Drop of Corruption but got hung up on a slow part and set it aside. I’m hoping to just push through and finish it this week. I know everyone loves this book, but it feels really slow to me for some reason. My next books are April releases that I’m trying to read this week: City of All Seasons and Another Fine Mess.
Other posts this week:
This week is a fun Top Ten Tuesday: books with the word ____ in the title. Stop by to see what word I’m focusing on! Wednesday is double duty: I’m posting my usual Future Fiction and it’s also the last day of April, so I’ll do a quick reading wrap-up too; Thursday is May 1st! So look for my May reading plans on What’s On My Plate.
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
Eat the Ones You Love by Sarah Maria Griffin – Review 4/5 stars
The Shivers Collection – Review 4/5 stars

Love the photos. It’s really good you got that dead pine handled. They can do a lot of damage sometimes. I can’t believe May is coming this week. yes I loved A Drop of Corruption and luckily it wasn’t slow to me because I am so tired at night somedays I just fall asleep instead of reading.
It died pretty suddenly too, which was weird. I think they said it was bark beetles that killed it.
Yuck, snow! Hope that is the last blast before it warms up.
Stormi
Ha ha it had better be the last snow!
I saw your story on instagram of the snow. It looked crazy! I’m looking forward to your review of The Staircase in the Woods! And I love that picture of the flying peacock!
Thanks Stephanie! I really enjoyed The Staircase in the Woods:-)
Beautiful photo! That’s amazing that you were able to have the dead tree removed and not have to pay for it. Enjoy your last (I hope!) snow of the year! Wishing you a great week.
Thanks Lisa! I sure hope it’s the last of the snow…
A snow storm now it’s crazy Tammy! Also yes it was better to cut that tree and lucky for you that you didn’t have to pay for it. I finished The Tainted Cup this week and A Drop of Corruption is on my near future!
Snow in April is crazy, right?
Oh my gosh, the peacock picture is gorgeous! And crazy about a snowstorm! I know how expensive it is getting the trees around here taken down, so I’m glad they took that one down for you. Hope you have a good week!

Thanks Lisa! You too.
90 ft pine, wow! And $7K, ouch, glad they took care of it. What a peacock photo! I don’t believe I’ve ever seen one in flight, just strutting about on the ground. Enjoy what’s left of winter. 🙂
That was Moses’s first time seeing a flying peacock too, he couldn’t believe it!
You had snow, we had rain where I am (a drought prone Caribbean island) unexpectedly.
The snow is crazy!! We are having Spring weather at the moment, but the week before Easter we had rain all days all week long (it wasn’t nice, it did a lot of damages around) and on the mountains it snowed. But now it seems we are back on nice weather with some rain here and there. At least it’s more manageable!
And that tree was huge!!!!
To be honest I found A Drop Of Corruption a bit slow in some parts too. It didn’t really bugger me while I was reading, but it was more slow going than the first one!!
That peacock photo is perfect, so pretty.
I’m a tiny bit envious of your snow and cold weather. It’s supposed to get hot here this week and I’m not looking forward to it at all.
Hope you enjoy A Drop of Corruption when you get back to it, that’s one I’m looking forward to 😀
I’m over winter in spring. We had a freeze warning last night and the last few days it’s taken until 3 or 4pm before it finally warms up some. That’s a great picture and yes, tree removal/trimming is so expensive. I know it’s risky but it still seems so high. We had a tree topped out a few years back and spent a couple of thousand. Adulting sucks! Hope you have a great week.
Oh no – snow! I hope all your early budding plants are okay. In the UK we have a saying ‘never cast a clout till May’s out’ – which sounds like somebody breaking up a boxing match or something – but, a clout is an item of clothing and it’s because cold snaps can occur as late as May. So there you go. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. I’ll just go now.
Lynn 😀
