Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
Happy Easter to those who celebrate!
Work is still pretty stressful, so I’m happy to be NOT working at the moment. At least the weather is nice! I’m still watching Lost on Netflix. I had forgotten that old network shows had about 22 episodes per season, and Lost has even more! So I’m still on season 1 and really enjoying it.
I’m thinking of revamping my book haul posts and maybe just sharing new books in my Buffy’s Corner posts. I see lots of bloggers doing that and I like that format, so I think I’ll do one last Saturday book haul for April and then switch over.
Finally, I hope everyone has a great week! Let me know if you’ve read anything good:-)
Upcoming reads and reviews:
My stressful work week translated into a scattered reading week. I had a hard time focusing on anything and kept picking up new books, thinking I might get out of my slump. That means I didn’t finish anything this week, except for The Shivers Collection. I’m currently reading three books (not really my favorite thing to do!): Eat the Ones You Love, A Drop of Corruption and The Gentleman and his Vowsmith. Eat the Ones You Love is…very odd. It’s a bit heavy on relationship drama, which I was not expecting, but there’s a sinister quality to it that’s enough to keep me reading. A also started A Drop of Corruption and I love being back in this world. I’ll probably finish this up next. And The Gentleman and His Vowsmith started out promising but it’s so boring right now! I’m only about 150 pages in and struggling. If things don’t pick up, I may DNF it.
Other posts this week:
My focus is on finishing books and writing reviews, but look for a Future Fiction post as usual on Wednesday. and Saturday I’ll share my April book haul.
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
Mapping the Interior by Stephen Graham Jones – Review 4.5/5 stars
Most Anticipated Books of 2025 – Second Quarter
Senseless by Ronald Malfi – Review 4.5/5 stars

Sorry that work is so stressful right now! If you’re struggling with a book after 150 (which is a hefty sampling), I’d consider DNF-ing, too! Life is too short for reading uninteresting books!
I’m hesitating to DNF because it’s a review book, but I need to make a decision soon, lol.
The angle of that bird in the photo makes it look abstract and it took me a minute looking at it to realize it was the angle making it look strange, so cool. 🙂
It is a rather unusual photo of the heron:-)
It’s hard to read a lot if one is stressed or over busy. I do my book haul weekly in my Sunday post. The other days, and even Sunday, we have reviews because I have such a prolific team of reader / reviewers.
Anne – Books of My Heart
Sometime I wish I had an extra reviewer or two to cover more ground:-)
It’s so hard to focus on books when work is stressful! I hope you have a better week ahead. I’ve been curious about the Shivers collection!
Thanks Lisa! I enjoyed The Shivers Collection, not every story, but the Grady Hendrix made the whole thing worth it:-)
I can’t focus on books when life is stressful either Tammy! I hope work gets better soon!
Thanks Sophie!
Happy Easter, Tammy! Oooooh Lost! If you ever wanna talk about it, DM me on insta. I’ve seen the whole show several times. Season 1 is one of the best first seasons of a tv, imo. My mom was watching it for a little while but she has paused it now. Boooo
I just watched the last episode of Season 1 yesterday and I absolutely loved the way the writers brought everything full circle back to when they were boarding the plane. Brilliant writing!
I feel as if I’ve already recently wished this, but I’ll keep on doing it until it happens: I hope this next week is a bit less stressful for you. 🙂
Thanks Todd, I appreciate it!
I reaaaally need to get started on A Drop of Corruption, I’m excited for it, life has just overtaken me a bit.
Hope you have a better week at work this week! Stressful times at work can really throw people off, reading-wise — just when reading would be a good way to relax!
Same here! Everyone is loving A Drop of Corruption but it’s taken me all month to start it.
I didn’t snag a review copy of Eat the Ones You Love but I did preorder it. Can’t wait for your thoughts on that one. Sorry work has been stressful. Mine has been a bit more hectic than normal but hopefully we both will be on the upswing soon!
My review is up tomorrow! I really enjoyed it, it’s very weird but so well written.
I’m really looking forward to reading A Drop of Corruption. I wish I hadn’t waited to song to read the first book but at least now there’s already another one available 😀
Yes! You can read it right away before you forget details of the first book.
I hope work is less stressful soon. I can totally relate. That Heron pic is great!
Thanks! I’m glad I’m not alone:-)
Sorry to hear work has been so stressful! I’m excited to read all of your reviews this week (and hopefully catch up on some previous posts as well!). I hope you manage to have a great week despite work’s stressors! That photo of the heron is stunning.
Thanks Jordan!
The pic is sooo beautiful!
I am sorry that work is stressful right now, I hope things will get better soon and that you will come out of your slump ASAP!
I am also sorry that The Gentleman and His Vowsmith isn’t working for you! I have yet to read it but I hope to get to it soon, but I am curious to see what you will think about A Drop of Corruption!!
Thanks Susy! I hope I can finish both books soon:-)
My kid just had spring break, so I am finding it a bit hard to get motivated now that everything is back to routine too. My reading has been all over the place and it’s been hard to find even a mood read to get into! But oh well I guess it gives me time to catch up on writing reviews 🙂
I’m in the middle of three different books and I never do that!
My reading has also been very patchy. I’m struggling to really sink into things.
That Great Blue Heron pic is fantastic.
Lynn 😀
