Over-Booked [192] – A Book Haul Post

Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! There is a new blog hosting Stacking the Shelves, so do check out Reading Reality for more information!

It’s been three weeks since my last book haul post, and despite my attempts to stop accepting review requests, here I am, lol. Very excited for these, and I’ve even read a couple already!

Books in the mail for review:

Starting off with two books courtesy of Titan Books, I am currently reading Calypso by Oliver K. Langmead. This book is GORGEOUS, and I’m so grateful to have this finished hardcover. I’m just about halfway in, this is an unusually formatted story about a generation ship traveling to terraform a new planet, and it’s written in verse. I’m really enjoying it so far, although the format makes this a slower read than normal. I will most likely review this in the coming week.

I also received This Skin Was Once Mine by Eric LaRocca, which is made up of four novellas. I’ll be dipping into this very soon, I’m both nervous and excited to read it:-)

Big thanks to Tor Nightfire for a finished copy of Diavola by Jennifer Thorne. I loved this book so much, and the link will take you to my review.

And from Poisoned Pen Press I received two upcoming horror books, both by authors I’ve read previously. Through the Midnight Door by Katrina Monroe is a story revolving around two sisters and a creepy house.

And from Darcy Coates, I can’t wait to read Ghost Camera. This is an older book of hers that is being rereleased, and it sounds like fun!

Big thanks to Red Tower Books (the same publisher of Fourth Wing) for a copy of Heavenbreaker by Sara Wolf. This is a fantasy romance, and it’s getting tons of great buzz!

With thanks to Tordotcom for Wicked Problems by Max Gladstone. This is the sequel to Dead Country, which I haven’t read yet. I would like to get to both books at some point.

And big thanks to Orbit for a copy of The Honey Witch by Sydney J. Shields and A Feather So Black by Lyra Selene. I’m looking forward to both books, although I don’t remember requesting A Feather So Black, lol.

Digital books for review:

I was super excited to be approved for So Thirsty by Rachel Harrison. It’s definitely one of my most anticipated Fall releases!

We Love the Nightlife by Rachel Koller Croft wasn’t on my radar until I was offered a review copy, and I have to think the author was thinking about this song when she came up with the title! (OMG this song takes me back to my high school disco days, lol)

A couple of years ago I read We Made It All Up by Margot Harrison, and I really enjoyed it, so I’m looking forward to reading her upcoming book, The Midnight Club.

Just say the words “Southern Gothic horror” and I’m there. This Cursed House by Del  Sandeen sounds like an awesome debut!

The Village Library Demon-Hunting Society by C.M. Waggoner sounds like it’s going to be a really good cozy fantasy/mystery!

And finally, I’m trying a self-published book this month, Ink Vine by Elizabeth Broadbent. I’m not quite sure what the genre is, but I believe this is another Southern Gothic.

With thanks to Berkley, Ace and Elizabeth Broadbent:-D

Do any of these sound good to you?

I just finished it and really loved it. It’s very different but it all comes together in the end.

  1. You have the best TBR list ever! Lol. I’m feeling Mike reading more horror this year so I’m over here taking note of some of the books you mentioned. All authors are new to me.

  2. Wow, you’ve got quite a few books to read now, lol!! I’m also looking forward to A FEATHER SO BLACK. When I saw it’d be in one of my book subs, I then opted not to request an ARC of it. I’ve seen mixed scoring, so I hope we both like it!

I think I’ve seen more good reviews than bad for A Feather So Black, I guess we’ll see!
