Welcome to Future Fiction, my reimagining of the Waiting on Wednesday meme! There are so many amazing new books coming out, that I can no longer pick just one. My goal with Future Fiction is to share at least three new books each week, a combination of recent cover reveals and books that I’ve recently added to my TBR pile. I’m still going to be linking up with Wishful Endings/Can’t Wait Wednesday, and I also want to give a shout out to Jill at Breaking the Spine for starting the original Waiting on Wednesday meme. I hope you’ll find some new books to add to your TBR piles, and as always, I look forward to hearing what YOU’RE looking forward to:-D
Three new covers, three books you will want to add to your TBR, take a look:
The Sirens by Emilia Hart. Releases in March 2025 from St. Martin’s Press. I was surprised to see this reveal almost a year before the release date, but hey, I’m not complaining! I am beyond excited for Emilia Hart’s next book, after loving Weyward last year. I adore the cover, and it sounds like there might be some speculative elements in the story.
In this highly atmospheric horror-thriller from the Stoker Award–nominated author of The Violence, a young woman hopes to reinvent herself at an isolated artists’ colony. . . only to be drawn into its dark, twisted past.
Sarah Carpenter is starting over.
She’s on the run—leaving behind her unsupportive, narcissistic ex-boyfriend and alcoholic, abusive mother—headed for a new beginning at Tranquil Falls, a secluded artists’ colony. There, with no cell signal or internet to distract her, she hopes to rediscover her love for pottery and put the broken pieces of her life back together.
But when Sarah finds the body of a young woman while digging a hole for a pit kiln, things start to fall apart. Her fellow artists begin to act in troubling ways. The eccentric fiber artist is knitting an endless scarf. The musician plays the same carousel song over and over until his fingers bleed. The calligrapher grins with ink-stained teeth. Not to mention the haunting dreams Sarah has been having night after night.
When she discovers glass shards in her clay, Sarah begins to wonder if someone is out to get her—or if she’s losing her grip on reality out here in the wilds, where the pounding of the waterfall never, ever fades. As she investigates the beautiful valley and the crumbling resort looming over them all, she unearths a chillingly horrific past that can no longer remain buried. . .
It Will Only Hurt For a Moment by Delilah S. Dawson. Releases in October 2024 from Del Rey. I absolutely loved The Violence, so I’m happy that Dawson has another full length horror novel coming out (I didn’t like her last book, which was a novella). I love the idea of something bad happening at an artists’ colony, and this cover is spectacular!
A feisty witch and a handsome mage must put their heated business rivalry aside to save their small town from supernatural forces in this charming contemporary fantasy romcom from the author of Thief Liar Lady.
Chanterelle Cottage is Charlie Sparrow’s whole world. The cozy spellshop where she and her moms practice their witchcraft, selling goods and services to the people of small-town Owl’s Hollow, has been in her family for generations.
Okay, business has been a little slow and a recent burglary hit their inventory pretty hard. And the bank may not agree to restructure their loan. But Charlie is talented and savvy, and she’ll keep things afloat once her parents finally let her buy into the business as a co-owner. Still, when a competing magecraft firm opens in town, things start to look bleak. After all, everyone knows there’s room for only one magic shop in Owl’s Hollow.
So what if Fitz, the mage who owns the new Maven Enterprises, happens to be ridiculously handsome in his ridiculously expensive suits? Who cares that, when Charlie can forget for a moment or two that Fitz is her competitor, things between them are as easy as breathing? None of that matters—because Charlie is not going to get involved with the competition. In this battle of the businesses, she’ll do whatever it takes to make sure Chanterelle Cottage is the last spellshop standing.
But when strange supernatural events begin to plague the citizens of Owl’s Hollow, Charlie and Fitz must put their rivalry aside and their magic together to save the town. As they grow closer, it becomes harder for Charlie to keep her carefully drawn line in place—maybe Owl’s Hollow is big enough for a witch and a mage, after all.
The Cottage Around the Corner by D.L. Soria. Releases in September 2024 from Del Rey. Another cozy fantasy romance! I like this rather unusual cover design, and the story sounds like fun. I’m on board for any story involving a “feisty witch,” lol.
I’m really excited for Emilia Hart’s new book. Looks like we’re gonna have to wait for a while but at least we can put it on our 2025 wishlist already!
It Will Only Hurt For a Moment’s synopsis is very intriguing to me. It made me want to know what the heck is going on there. I’m putting it on my list for this fall.
Also loving the sound of The Cottage Aroundt he Corner! It had me already at “A feisty witch and a handsome mage”. I love stories about witches and mages!

The Cottage Around the Corner sounds like one for me, and I also think The Sirens might be good too 😀
Weyward is on my TBR, but I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. But I’ve heard very good things about Emila Hart’s writing, so I’ll check out The Sirens as well. As for The Cottage: Feisty witch + handsome mage? Count me in!

Ooh I hadn’t seen that Emilia Hart had another book due out. The cover and blurb are so intriguing too
Oh YAY for a new Delilah Dawson! I check every so often (for authors I enjoyed in general) and just checked a couple weeks ago and saw nothing, so this is VERY exciting!! I love the idea of The Sirens too, even though I still need to read Weyward. And I ADORE the cover for Cottage, too! Great picks, thanks for putting them on my radar!
