Buffy’s Corner 9/3/23 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D

Happy Labor Day Weekend to those who are celebrating! I’m excited to have an extra day off work, since I have so many amazing books coming up this month and I need more time to read. As I’m typing this, it’s raining again up here, but it’s supposed to stop soon and the rest of the week will be in the 60s/70s. Bliss! My hubby took a really nice photo of the recent supermoon right near our house, and I’ll share it below. Have a good week, everyone!

Upcoming reads & reviews:

September is going to be an outstanding reading month, I already know because I’ve read my first two books and wow. I started The September House on a whim last week, and it turned out to be such an emotional, funny and unique take on the haunted house trope, I can’t wait to share my review later this week! I’m just about finished with Schrader’s Chord, and all the buzz is true. This is an excellent story about evil records, ghosts, family dynamics and of course, music. It feels a bit like vintage Stephen King, and I love that it’s a straight forward, linear story without any time jumps (just about everything I read has a dual timeline, it seems). Look for my review on Thursday. After that I’ll probably knock out two shorter September 12th releases, What Kind of Mother and Starter Villain.

Other posts this week:

I’m hoping to jump on The Friday Face-Off on Friday, I’ve gotten out of the habit but I do have some cover comparisons I’d love to share. Look for Future Fiction on Wednesday, and if I can find a good one, I may do a book tag tomorrow, just for fun.

In case you missed:

  1. OMG look at that super moon. I’m fascinated by the moon and the stars and nearly gone in a ditch plenty of times through looking up at the sky instead of where I’m going when out with the dogs at night.
I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for Schrader’s Chord.
    Have a good week.

Thanks Lynn! That’s so funny, I’m the kind of person who always looks at the ground because I’m so clumsy, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve twisted my ankle, lol.

  2. That is a very cool pic!!! I can’t wait to see what you think of The September House, I know we don’t always agree on books but I have that one and I am really hoping I like it as it sounds fun!

Have a great week and happy reading!

Thanks Stormi! I hope The September House works for you. It was really different and pretty scary at times:-)

I remember those 100+ days where I used to live, it’s one reason we moved. Hang in there, cooler weather is bound to come soon!

  3. That photo of the supermoon is stunning… And do enjoy the long weekend and diving into those books, Tammy – it looks as though September is going to be a bumper month:)).

  4. Starter Villain is on my list!

And send us some of that cool weather, please. It’s been a miserable, hot summer, with very little rain and a whole lot of days with temperatures over 100 (and stupid heat indices, too). We actually got a decent rain yesterday, and that cooled us off for half a hot second. It’s back to being hot, though. Fall will get here – someday!
