Buffy’s Corner 5/7/23- Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D

Is anyone else watching Queen Charlotte? I’ve seen the first two episodes and I’m loving it so far. I’m very impressed with the casting choices, especially those of Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury, the younger versions look just like I imagine they would.

Upcoming reads & reviews:

I’m already so behind with my May reading, but I’m not going to stress. I’ve just finished The Ferryman, which took a solid week to read. With 500+ pages and a week where I was too tired at the end of the day to read much, I wasn’t very productive. Look for my review tomorrow! And I’ve got more big books on the way: I may have started Fourth Wing by the time this post goes live (512 pages), and I’d love to get a start on some early June releases like Gods of the Wyrd Wood (671 pages!) I’m also in the mood for horror, so I may grab All the Dead Lie Down soon.

Other posts this week:

On Tuesday, I’ll finally have a Wyrd & Wonder post, a list! I’ll be sharing 14 Upcoming YA Fantasies to Get Excited About; stop by on Wednesday for three new Future Fiction picks; Friday I’m doing a Mother’s Day themed book list! And I might do a book haul on Saturday, we’ll see how much time I have this week.

In case you missed:

My posts from last week:

The Thick and the Lean by Chana Porter – Review 3.5/5 stars

Future Fiction #225

The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw – Review 4.5/5 stars

  1. I haven’t watched anything to do with Bridgerton, I might after I finish the actual book series, I am on book 5. I heard from a friend that they spoiled a major plot point in the Colin and Penelope book in season two show, she was very upset at that. I agree as I have now read that one and it is a major plot point. So figured I best just read all the books. 🙂

I am always behind on my reads…lol.

That is an awesome Bee photo!

Have a great day and happy reading!

I need to read the books, I think I bought the first three. I love the show, and I’m always curious about how the show is different from the books. I think reading the books first is a good idea:-)

I make time for TV because there is so much great stuff out there. Also, it’s nice to have more than one form of storytelling entertainment:-)

That last episode of Queen Charlotte was brilliant. I’m just in awe of that show.

  2. The only reading I was able to fit in this past week was what I could listen to in audio form while driving to/from work and any I listened to while trying to fall asleep, though I usually had to relisten to all that the next day. Didn’t even manage to comment on any blogs… grrr…. I hate weeks like that and I’m hopeful neither of us has to have another anytime soon. I look forward to your thoughts on The Ferryman. I keep hearing great things about the author but I haven’t tried them yet. And nice work by Moses catching a carpenter bee in action, I just hope that’s not my deck it’s flying towards! 🙂

LOL this is a telephone/electrical post outside our property, and I guess these bees have been there for years. Of of my neighbors used to clean our house when it was a rental, and she’s seen those bees swarm at that same post. I hope your week is less busy!

I can’t wait to hear what you think of it! It’s so short, only 6 episodes, but I adored it:-)

Thanks Greg! And you definitely need to read any of Greene’s books. I think you’d love them.

  3. For some reason it went completely over my head that this season of Bridgerton’s Queen Charlotte is the younger Queen Charlotte (right?). Wow, haha oops! I haven’t started it yet, but it’s on my list. I’m slightly behind on my May TBR, too, and may switch out one of my books for Fourth Wing because I’m feeling a little FOMO right now.

I loved Queen Charlotte because it goes back and forth from past to present (where Bridgerton left off) so you see the contrast between the younger and older characters. I thought it was brilliant!

I finished Queen Charlotte last night and was surprised there are only 6 episodes. I cried!!! It was such a well done show.
