The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!
Since it’s St. Patrick’s Day today, I thought I’d feature a green book! I’ve selected Home Before Dark by Riley Sager. I haven’t read this yet, but I love all the different green covers (with a few others thrown in too). Take a look:
Dutton Books hardcover 2020 | Dutton Books paperback 2021
Polish edition 2021 | Estonian edition 2022
Croatian edition 2021 | German edition 2022
Hungarian edition 2021 | Thorndike Press large print edition 2020
I love all the different variations of chandeliers on these covers. Can someone who’s read this please tell me what the significance of the chandelier is?? Ha ha I’m so curious.
As for favorites, I love the Estonian and Polish editions the best.
Who knew this had so many covers! I would like to read it eventually but still have a nasty taste in my mouth due to all the grape pop and the Zoloft in Final Girls. I think I like the Dutton paperback better than their hardcover edition and as far as the chandelier goes, I like the red ones better than the green ones.
The Hungarian edition somehow really keeps my attention and not just because it has that little Stranger Things nod hahah

Ooh, I liked this book! I love how many covers there are! I like the Dutton books one, and I think I’d like the Thorndike large print better if the title was presented differently, haha. All I remember about the chandelier is that I think it seems to turn on and off… all by itself. Very spooky. 🙂 If it has a bigger role then I honestly don’t remember, haha!

The last two editions should have kept the all green theme, it’s such a striking color for a thriller cover!

I like the Estonian cover the best because that (haunted) chandelier is so pretty!

I’m curious about the chandelier now too… My favorite edition is Dutton Books paperback 2021

I’m not as drawn to the chandelier so my favorites are the Dutton paperback and the German edition.
The Polish edition is my favorite!
I like the German edition, the chandelier just feels too mundane, somehow!
I like the Dutton paperback and the Polish one. They’re both so atmospheric.
Fun St. Patrick’s Day idea! Interesting they were very into green or red for this book. The Estonian one is my favorite too.

Funny how so many editions copies each over. I prefer the ones with the greens looks more spooky to me than the reddish tones here
